Sitting on 27 acres of tropical foliage, this resort has a superb oceanfront location on an exclusive stretch of Ka'anapali Beach. The rooms are modern with luxury amenities and the theme is holokai, meaning Polynesian voyaging, reflecting on the importance of the canoe to Hawaiian culture.
Children 5 years and under receive free breakfast buffet with adult purchase of the breakfast buffet. Only one child per paying adult is allowed. Free meal programs may be subject to hotel pre selected menus. See front desk for full details.
This is was our second time visiting the Royal Lahaina. We had planned a trip pre-COVID and had postponed for almost a year. We were a little nervous traveling in July with all of the articles about tourist/local conflict, low restaurant availability, high tensions etc. but we were very pleasantly surprised with how smoothly everything went. First of all, I have never experienced the type of customer service I've had at the Royal Lahaina. Everyone is so kind, from the front desk, to the housekeeping staff, to the servers. Everyone is awesome. It's a very special place and that has a lot to do with the staff. We did notice that some of the staff were working very long shifts due to staff shortages. Even with the strain and the long hours the staff was wonderful. The hotel itself is also stunningly beautiful. The views are breathtaking and the property is expansive and just gorgeous. It's a pleasure just to walk around the grounds. Of course the proximity to the beach can't be beat. The housekeeping staff is also exceptional. I'm a clean freak and everything was spotless. The rooms are a little small for a family of four, but it's worth it. We were upgraded to an ocean view room and the view almost brought me to tears. I don't know if I can ever go to a standard or partial view room again! The Royal Lahaina can't be beat.
Great Stay @ The Royal Lahaina Resort

We often stay at the RLR and love it. We stayed for 3 weeks this year and the RLR did not disappoint! The staff are like vacation family to us! Gilbert & Ray are our favorite valets, Cara & Victor are our favorite servers at the Royal Terrace and the housekeeping staff is so friendly! There are many purified water stations and the pools seem to have been redone on the inside, although some tiles have started to chip off. We stayed 2 weeks in a deluxe garden cottage- very spacious but thin walls, large lanai but a lot of people walking by. However, easy access to the beach and pools. Then we stayed 1 week in the tower on the 7th floor- great view of the ocean, small deck but more privacy. However, you do have to walk through the entire hotel to get outside.
I prefer the cottages, my husband prefers the tower. The Royal Scoop had limited items compared to the past and hopefully will grow when COVID restrictions ease. There is live music near the pool in front of the Royal Terrace approximately 5:30-9:00 & it is still fantastic. The sunset ceremonies also started back up during our stay - one of our favorite parts of the evening. The Beach Activities Center is up and running but be sure to have pool cards for towels because the towel police are very strict ?? You can always ask for more at the front desk.
