Fabulous as always

Kristi M on Apr 11, 2024

Fabulous stay as always. This is one of our most favourite properties. Our daughter loves the watersides and we love the location, views and cabanas. Rooms lovely and beds super comfortable and service top notch. The only negative is the food isn’t the greatest but so many other Maui options for amazing meals! Will most definitely be back!

Skip this one. Expensive, not what you pay for

Jennifer C (Sunnyvale) on Apr 04, 2024

We stayed here in March and I really wished we had gone with our usual (Andaz). When we arrived we checked with the staff on parking and there is a self parking lot where you pay (or you can valet for extra). That's the thing I hated about this resort. Everything was extra, from outings to meals at the resort including ridiculous pool experiences I'll get to later. We stood around until realizing where the front desk check in was. It was very business transactional and we got awkwardly lei'd and some juice. We were shown a map to our room and I highly recommend just getting someone to help with the bags. The grounds are massive and the route they showed us was stairs only and it was such a hassle to bring our luggage there. The view of our room 2120 was amazing and we had a bit of very rocky beach access. A turtle would beach itself every so often and tourists would come out standing super close and terrorizing the animal while their kids screamed at it. Our beach access was for viewing only, not getting in on account of the giant rocks. Staff came by the drop off some macarons and a bottle of champagne which was nice. I refused to eat at the overpriced restaurants on the grounds so can't comment but the restaurants at the shopping center in walking distance were great. The good I did like how walkable this resort is as there's a walking trail right out side our room which connects to two beaches. However that also means you have zero privacy but it's great if you like to people watch. Several weddings and events were hosted just outside our door so it got loud at times. We checked out the water slide and the kids pool seemed really fun if you're traveling with kids. The not so good The resort fee includes things we never got to take advantage of such as beach chairs and umbrellas because people are out claiming spots at 7a. Movie shown in movie night were kids movies only. The pools were incredibly overcrowded. They offer an exclusive pool option where you pay $300/chair in a private pool and they bring you snacks but I recommend looking up reviews for that experience because it just looked like a money grab. On our second to last day we chose to book a snorkel and kayak tour which was amazing but I want to mention the concierge lady asked for a tip. For what exactly I don't know. It just felt tasteless. The only staff I had a great experience with was housekeeping. They were always very thorough and friendly. The yoga and boot camp classes were also nice. The drinks ie cocktails were all very watered down. They give you two drink vouchers and when you go to redeem them expect them to be extremely sweet with almost no alcohol. I paid $40 for an hour of paddle boarding and felt this should have been included in my resort fee. The room The room itself was very generic and beds were uncomfortable. Showers took awhile to heat up. They have a small fridge and a coffee machine in room but otherwise pretty bare. The soaps are low quality and left an itchy residue for both my partner and I. They have water dispenser near the pools and lobby fyi. Overall I'm sure this resort is what you make of it but I didn't very much enjoy my stay compared to other resorts I've stayed at on Maui. And the prices you pay are not commenserate with the experience at all.
