Overrated, dirty and rude staff. Skip this resort and head to the Grand Wailea instead!

Extremely Disappointing! We used up all our points to stay here for our anniversary and called ahead to request anything but a garden view to make our stay special. Check in process was a pure disaster! Platinum guests are treated as just any other guests no special perks! After 3 days of having no views, the manager promised us our last day will have an ocean view! They moved us grudgingly to another room also to have sub standard views! You would think they would go out of their way to make our stay extra special after they already ruined it. They just don’t care about their guests. Our room was also dirty and had stains on the couch and not cleaned thoroughly by the cleaning staff. Lines are a disaster to check in and check out! Motel 6 would be a better experience than this place. Totally overrated. This is not how a resort should treat their guests. This will be the last time I give any business to a Marriott! I have had friends stay at the Grand Wailea and they have loved it! Our business and our company’s business moving forward will go to Hilton!

Pretty much over Marriott brands

Lori M (Austin) on Jun 15, 2021

Stayed at this resort for our anniversary recently. We are Marriott Gold members, which I'm sure means nothing to Marriott- but you'd think they would maybe consider us loyal customers who will continue to use their resorts. I had booked an Oceanfront room and indicated we'd like it located in a quiet part of the resort. We were placed in Hale 7, which has events in front of this building all the time....from exercise groups in the morning, to loud dinner events in the evening. Not at all relaxing, and especially since I requested a quiet part of the resort. I also initially requested foam pillows and got only down pillows. I have allergies to down. We noticed that our room never got below 77degrees, even with the air turned to 60deg. We called and told them the issue. Someone came to the room, pressed buttons, and said it was fine. It never got below 77. Again, we called and again they sent someone. And again, the room never got below 77. We requested they look at this again, and not sure if they did, but it never got fixed. The room smelled musty and we were cooler sitting outside. IF Marriott had fixed the air and IF they had tried to get us in a quiet Hale, this review would have been wonderful. It's a nice resort overall. Views are great. Beds are comfortable. Service, below par. Oh- they also charged us for calls made from our room AFTER we checked out. That was the icing on the cake. Basically, I'm done with Marriott. Will be cancelling my Bonvoy cards and hope to never stay at another again. I love nice hotels, and my husband and I have stayed in some great ones. This was not one of them. Definitely not worth the money.
