Sun Peaks Grand Hotel is the Best Value for Early Season Skiing/Riding

Dennis M on Dec 05, 2022

I paid $230 (Canadian) for a slopeside room (per night) which included a $50 gift card to be used toward lessons and food. With the U.S. exchange and gift card credit, that's $145 per night. I pay that (these days it's a common 'going rate', unfortunately) at roadside hotels when travelling. I don't usually need a resort when I ski -- a parking lot, simple lodge and hill are preferable -- but a ski in/out hotel with slopeside views at $145 makes Sun Peaks Grand Hotel the best resort deal on the planet. - Dennis M. Great ski in, ski out

TimJeri_Canada (Winnipeg) on Oct 15, 2022

This review is long overdue. We visited in March 2018, March 2019, and again in March 2020 – just as the world was shutting down around us… Recently renovated rooms (as of 2018) are fabulous: bright, modern (attractively furnished), spacious, clean, and super comfortable! Mountain views are gorgeous! Rooms with a balcony are great for storing empty ski bags. On our first visit we paid extra for Summit Club access (for breakfast and after ski snacks) – but wouldn’t bother doing it again. Too often items were not replenished or just lacking. Lots of great and more interesting breakfast spots to choose from just steps away from the hotel – or at the hotel restaurant (Mantles) itself. Ski valet works well and the on-site tech shop makes it very convenient to have gear tuned at the start of the stay. Really enjoyed the restaurant hotel (Mantles) for dinner – food quality has always been excellent, as it should be for the prices (it’s pretty expensive but the food, service, ambience, and convenience make it worth it). We love the European feel to the Village and though we don’t have a lot of reference points (Lake Louise, Banff; Sunshine, Banff; and Big Sky, Montana) the skiing is great! Ski in, ski out is ideal and the hotel is perfectly situated. Opportunity for improvement: a boot room with drying racks would be nice. Would we go back? In a heartbeat!
