Not the Mirage it used to be.

StanToronto (Toronto, Canada) on Apr 09, 2024

Very good location, comfortable clean room, staff is very nice and helpful. BUT: The check-in line-up is always very long and inefficient (caused primarily by understaffing the front desk). This was an ongoing problem throughout our stay and not only started our holiday with a question mark but later interfered with any attempt to speak to a manager (staff insisted that you had to wait your turn in line for the front desk to ask for a manager). The pool and pool area was closed. The gym and spa were only available from 8am-5pm. The Resort Fee of $12 per person per day per room ($24 per day for my wife & I) apparently does NOT cover the pool or the spa (which charges $30 per day per person using the spa). The sauna in the spa was just warm and truly not worth spending time in, much less the money to use it -- the attendant informed me that it was set at its maximum. The restaurants and pubs are very expensive ($20 for a glass of white wine at the Draft pub is as cheap as you're going to get it). We have visited Las Vegas several time in the past and have always been impressed with The Mirage, but now feels like it's seen it's best days. There are far better hotel/casino establishments on the strip. We won't be back.

A vacation full of happy surprises!

Bill T on Apr 08, 2024

Was worried about construction goings on and other ugliness, but I was surprised and extremely happy with my stay. Absolutely lovely staff, the gaming was actually a lot of fun, walking around was a breeze, my room was lovely, with a surprisingly great view (I was also sort of worried about this as well, but I was going to take whatever was given me), got to see the volcano show from my window! The bathroom was amusingly small though.

Pool closed during spring break week

Lori L on Apr 07, 2024

We stayed for 5 nights during the first week of April. It was our first time in Vegas and we were excited to experience everything possible, both on the strip and the surrounding areas. The biggest disappointment for me was the fact that the pool wasn’t open. EVERY OTHER HOTEL POOL IN VEGAS WAS OPEN. When we booked the trip for spring break, we made a point of researching whether the pools would be open and from what we read, the pools usually open in March. It was only a few weeks before our trip that it was announced that the Mirage pool which previously said “Opening in 2024” now said “Opening in April 8th”. Unfortunately we had a non-refundable reservation and couldn’t change hotels. We had a room overlooking the Mirage pool and it certainly looked set-up ready for guests. You would think they would make an effort to have it open for spring break. When I inquired about other options, the concierge told me that they have no sister properties and suggested I go to Mandalay Bay. On Wednesday, it was 85 degrees and sunny so we did just that. For non-hotel guests, it was $125.00 for a chair by the pool! We were extremely disappointed that the Mirage didn’t offer any kind of voucher or discounted resort fee considering most people expected the pool the open by April. Based on other reviews, I know we are not alone with this opinion. My husband left the pool early and was going to come back and get me. When he tried to get the car from the valet, he realized that I had the ticket in my bag. He called me and I sent him picture of the ticket to show the attendant. They refused to give him the car so I had to take a taxi back from Mandalay Bay. So a day at the pool cost us $265.00. The hotel itself was fine - our room was clean and the Mirage is a convenient, centrally located spot on the strip. There is no coffee maker in the room, which is kind of crazy. Our room was at the very end of a long corridor so the walk to the elevator and then the walk to the opposite side of the casino to grab a coffee was quite inconvenient. We like to have coffee when we wake up before we get dressed for the day, so this was a drag. The mini bar items are insanely overpriced - $18 for a water! The fridge is filled to the brim so there’s no room to store any of your own items or bring leftovers back from dinner. We mostly ate dinner at other hotels (Nobu, Top of the World, Joe’s Stone Crab) but had casual dinners at Diablo’s and The Still inside the Mirage. Both were pretty good, and the gelato stand outside the elevators was hard to pass by :) We saw the Beatles Cirque du Soleil show at the Mirage and it was fabulous - definitely exceeded our expectations! We did lots of exploring during the day - Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, and we even drove out to Death Valley, which was amazing. All in all, it was a great trip but we would have loved to unwind and have a drink by the pool after our adventuring each day.

Spook Factor

Erin F (Calgary, Canada) on Apr 04, 2024

We stayed at the Mirage for 4 nights in room#21111 and it was decent. View was beautiful! Comfy beds but the phone would ring every night in the middle of the night. At least 3 times and exactly 3am, keeping us up. When I went to answer nobody was there and static on the other end. I did unplug them and it rang once so not sure if it was paranormal or a connection issue. Also lights turned on in closet at times. Also heard door knob turn. The bathtub was slow to drain and toilets had to be flushed twice. Heard other doors slam as well. Don’t think I would stay again but the spook factor was definitely there.
