Used to be our go-to.....NEVER again

Sad, almost spooky. Most shops and restaurants closed or limited. Casino dark and spooky. Years ago it was the absolute best. Now, having been sold, it has been pretty much gutted of all that was fun. It appears to be just hanging on until they find another buyer.
I know it’s cheap - but don’t do it!

I don’t even know where to start. 1. Check in takes 30+ minutes if you’re lucky. The line was consistent through my stay and not an exception. 2. The common areas have noticeably less air circulation than any other hotel/building and you feel like each breath is coming through 4 cigarettes. There must be decades of smoke baked into those chairs and carpets. 3. The staff seem overworked, underpaid and sick of dealing with the same complaints from everyone. 4. The rooms are dilapidated and stained. And the worst part… Our rooms smelled like someone was making a bonfire next to the bed. Pure wood smoke and ash. It was so bad it hit you in the face when you opened the door. We had permanent headaches and scratchy throats and of course they were “full” and couldn’t move us. The venting system must run through a kitchen with a wood oven or something. Seriously just spend a bit more and be comfortable. Free is too much for the Rio.
