Great family resort and very nice staff

alejandrahall (Houston, Texas) on Dec 04, 2022

We had a great time at this resort with our family. The staff is what makes it worth it - they are so attentive, welcoming, and nice. Juan, Sergio, and Nery were amazing - there were others but unfortunately we didn't make note of their names. Our housekeeper was also great. We were well fed and entertained by the daily shows they put on.

An okay experience

Jeffrey F on Nov 29, 2022

An okay experience overall. Rooms seemed dated and there were flies in it. The buffet food wasn’t great. They also still had Covid protocols in place so you couldn’t serve yourself which was inconvenient (even though I understand). Best dinning at the resort was the snack bar, but service was limited to specific times of day. The staff was great and tried their best to accommodate everyone. Like the other reviews state, San Jose is the less touristy side of Los Cabos, so all of the activities / excursions are about a 35 minute cab / Uber ride away in Cabo San Lucas.

Lovely quiet resort.

Lovely quiet resort. Buffet has enough selection. One a la cart restaurant that you can reserve many times. Fernando the pool bartender is great. Makes the best pina colada. Oscar at the buffet is very attentive. The entertainment could be better. 2 bad karaoke nights in one week.

Enjoyed our stay

J3626EPmichaels on Nov 14, 2022

Spent a week at royal decameron. It's really a nice small resort. The rooms were nice and clean. Not fancy but clean and neat. The grounds were attractively designed with various cacti and palm trees. The pools and the beach were great, especially the upper pool and patio for adults. The food in the buffet and the beach restaurant was very good. A good variety and plenty to sample. The staff was superior. We had very good interactions with the front desk., the cleaning personnel and the restaurant staff. Most notable was Gilberto who went out of his way to accommodate anything we asked for. Also we have to mention Jose,David and Ishmael as well as the other waiters and waitresses who made our stay very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for a nice week away with all the sun you would want. The only negative comment was the loud bass speaker at the poolside. There were times when you couldn't hear the music because the bass speaker was so loud.

Leave your expectations at home and all will be fine

We came to Royal Decameron predominantly for the 70.3 IM competition and chose this hotel for its location at the finish line. It was ideal. I read a lot of mixed reviews for this hotel. We were a family of 4 staying with other friends with children. Firstly, the staff, there were a couple of odd balls, but in general all were super friendly and smiley which is rare in an all inclusive, but really these guys were so friendly, happy looking and really helpful, happy to serve. The food was fine, it wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t terrible either. I think we all found something we liked and the buffets were well stocked and replenished. My number one complaint in Mexican hotels (of which I have been to a lot) is that the orange juice and coffee could be a lot better considering the location. You have access to the best and yet you serve the mediocre. Why not set yourself apart and provide the two things that your country is famous for, you will be remembered for it! The pool areas were clean and the kids enjoyed themselves. Be aware the ocean in this part of the beach is not child friendly, you can not swim here and the waves are too dangerous. But the beach itself is nice and comfortable. This is not a swimming beach. The room was nice although room 329 is classed as an ocean view but the palm tree blocks the view. It was clean and the bed comfortable. I would say for a family of 4 it is not ideal that two older children have to sleep on the sofa bed, it’s not big enough even to top and tail, they were fighting. There seemed to be a lack of towels, we had no bath mat or hand towels after day 1 and sometimes the poolside didn’t have beach towels. Our friends who were in the ground floors had problems with cockroaches but we didn’t, the hotel fumigated their rooms but this is Mexico and there are many around. It was an inconvenience Our bathroom was an uncomfortable in size. You could make this room better by reducing the living space and increasing the bathroom space: This hotel is overall pretty average and a little worn but the staff make up for it and we had a lovely time. Don’t go with high expectations and you won’t be dissatisfied.
