We've been to the Grand Velas in Nayarit several times, but hadn't been to Los Cabos. It's a great resort. It has more restaurants and more seating around the pool. Because we were there without our kids, we loved the adult only pool and sat there every day.
I have a severe shellfish allergy and was amazed at how seriously everyone took it. I ate ceviche three times during our six-day stay. The waiter wouldn't even let me order, he told me that the chef would make me something special and it was fabulous. We also ate at the tasting restaurant, where some of the courses were shellfish. They substituted vegan items for the shellfish and these were some of the most creative dishes I've ever eaten. Of course, the breakfast and lunch buffet were great. (I really appreciated that they made everyone at the buffet wear a mask.) A few of the dishes we ate weren't quite perfect, but that's a pretty small critique for an all-inclusive. Overall the food was amazing!
The service at the pool wasn't quite at Velas standards, but a few of the waiters said that the hotel has had a really challenging time finding enough staff. Everyone there was great, but it seemed understaffed. Again, after the year we've had, I'd still give the place a 9.5/10.
Our room was 602, which is one of the ones with a plunge pool on the balcony. However, unlike the rooms on either side, there are walls on both sides of the balcony so we had complete privacy on it. The room itself was beautiful.
I wish it were warmer in Cabo in December so that we'd return there. We'll likely be back again another time.
Five Star Experience
Jul 20, 2021
This was our first trip to Cabo and our stay at the Grand Velas was five star. The hotel and amenities are beautiful as was the service. The staff is always smiling and offering to help. For an all inclusive resort, the food and service was upper tier. Drink and food service by the pool was non-stop. With multiple dining choices each evening, it was had to decide which venue was the best! We did the Spa experience and it was beyond phenomenal! Show up before your spa appointment at least one hour and maybe two before your scheduled appointment so you have time to enjoy the water and sauna before your treatment. When you are trying to decide where to stay, just choose the Grand Velas!!!
