Merida and the Paseo de Montego

Wiley2luke (Boerne, Texas) on Oct 11, 2021

Nice stay even during strict COVID protocol. The hotel is in a good walking area with many restaurants nearby. There is also a very nice breakfast buffet and a nice Italian restaurant inside the hotel. The staff are very helpful. My husband and I asked for a tour around the city and the hotel immediately arranged a taxi for us with a very knowledgeable bilingual driver. The Paseo de Montego is the main area attraction and an interesting historical walk through the beautiful old sisal baron mansions. A very nice Starbucks and a large modern food mall is also on the street. The colonial style homes have front doors right at the street level. I found them charming with an old world feel. Each home is a little different… (antique/shabby chic). We took a taxi from Tulum to Merida and driving to the Hyatt was a little depressing as you had to meander through the older poor streets since there are no freeways. We flew out of Merida back to Texas and the airport is clean and efficient. We are from Texas and not used to wearing our masks everywhere including outside but we still truly enjoyed the area.

Very good hotel in Merida

980philr (Kansas City, Missouri) on Sep 24, 2021

My family was very happy. There was shopping across the street. Everyone wore masks correctly. Hand sanitizer was available. The staff was friendly and attentive. The breakfast was good. There is an Italian restaurant in the hotel that had good food. The beds were comfortable.
