Stay away!!

richard c on Jul 05, 2024

No no no, for the love of God, do not go to this resort, first it's no longer called the Holiday Inn, as it does not meet HI standards, now under new management. it is one of the oldest resort in Jamaica and it showed. during my stay my floor was out of water because of work being done on site but they book guess there anyway, the beach do not go pass your knee so if your looking for a swim forget about it. and if it's close to capacity the quality of food goes down as well. if there is a positive, it would only be the hard working staff, not management.

DIDN'T GO TO THIS HOTEL NEW MANAGEMENT

Corl W on Jul 04, 2024

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL. I don't write reviews and feel the need to warn you about this hotel. I'm not one that likes to bad mouth people or any business, but I have to say something this time. I have traveled across the entire world the last 35 years, and have not been treated so poorly before. The rooms are old and dirty, the food was so bad I only ate breakfast and had a driver take us out after the 2nd to eat at the local cuisine Hurricane Beryl just passed over Jamaica and the disorganization that guests experienced was disgraceful. They were not prepared and basically left the guests to fend for themselves. I was in the adult only section which counts as a VIP, there is a VIP lounge where in the midst of the hurricane the executive staff were sitting relaxing while I had not eaten since breakfast that morning. I explained this and was offered a soggy tuna sandwich and a can of anchovies. Meanwhile they did not explain that there was hot food available for guests in the upstairs main lobby, a very nice security guard met us on the way back to room and personally escorted us to the lobby after we explained we had not eaten. The staff in general are very nice and understanding except for the front desk staff. I cannot say all, but the ones we spoke to the answer was always " I don't know, and don't know what to tell you" this in the midst of a category 4 hurricane. I could not believe it, and the only reason I was there was because my flight was cancelled on the day the hurricane was due to impact the island. There was no accommodation for guests that were due to check out except a $50 discount of the rate that we paid knowing that we would not be able to enjoy any of the amenities that came with that rate. I booked for another two nights out of necessity, as the front desk girl plainly asked "you want the room or not" Every morning after that the keys would not work and I had to keep going to the front desk to get them reprogrammed. The one person I want to thank is Winsome the general manager who randomly came up to us and asked how things were. She was the only person that seemed concerned and actually listened to us. She even asked the front desk to give us a discount of $40 per night for the inconvenience, even though the experience so far was disappointing I at least appreciated that she was willing to listen and understood. I went to the front desk to reprogram the key, but the front desk lady (Gloria) decided that I was going to get back $40 total. I told her politely where she could stick the $40 and now I'm writing this review and encouraging anyone that stayed during this farcas to write a review as I NEVER write reviews and only want what you to avoid this place. The new owners only care about making money, and not the safety and concerns of it's guests. And apparently they own 74 hotels, I will never go to one that they own even if it's free. I'm not a complainer, but the truth is the truth. I don't like to waste my time and money, I'm only writing this because I don't want you to waste yours.
