Meet expectations if you have young kids

paolasN8297NJ on Jun 30, 2022

We loved the beach. I think if you have kids and want to be worry free in the ocean you should stay here. My son and daughter loved playing and feeding the fishes everyday. You do not need to pay for snorkeling when you have it rigth there it is beautiful. The food and service was average at the main restaurant. Italian restaurant was the best and Japanese too but not air conditioner uff! Rooms are average. If you are looking for something on a budget for a family this is a good property, not too fancy not too bad, just normal. The 2 tours we did were fantastic. Dunn's river Falls and ride on horses on the beach, wow! Recommended !

Value for money but busy

784debbiew on Jun 30, 2022

We arrived at 2 pm to find the room wasn't ready but we were given bands so we could get drinks. We were finally given our room about 3.30 pm. Room 5322 has a fantastic view. The room was spacious but, certainly the bathroom, looked very dated. The shower was very powerful but took quite some time to heat up. There is a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, fridge, coffee maker (which we used to boil water to make tea) and a TV. Our AC unit was fabulous and constantly on but others we spoke to said their AC units were very noisy. The hotel got very, very busy with locals from Friday to Monday so queues for bars and restaurants were a little frustrating. The locals were all very friendly though. The hotel also has conference rooms so it can be very busy in the week too. There is a shortage if parasols around the pool and beach area but plenty of beds. We are by no means fussy eaters but the Food in the main restaurant is not great at all but you can book the day before, for either the Caribbean, Italian or seafood al la carte restaurants for free or pay a supplement of $30 each for the Japanese. The food in these restaurants was fabulous. There is also the Jerk Hut where you can get jerk pork or chicken and the burger bar. The burgers from this bar were lovely. Take USD as everything in the hotel is priced in US dollars. There is a lot of seaweed close to shore but the problem is more that its not particularly deep. The stretch of water between the island and the shore is clear though. If you happen to see Rupert out in the water, with what looks like a pedalo, selling his goods, go say hi to him, he's lovely. There is free use of canoes and they do free little trips out in the little catamaran. They sell drinks bottles in the shop on site for $22 each. If you go to the shops over the road you can get 2 for that price. The bar are happy to fill them up with iced water. It's lovely sitting by the shore watching the pelicans diving in for fish, the little sand crabs and all the fish.

The employees make this resort

Shane S (Newport News, Virginia) on Jun 28, 2022

This is definitely an older resort, we stayed in building 7. We did have a loud A/C unit but not as loud as some reviews suggest, the balcony door was cracked & there was space between where the door closed & the frame so we put a towel in the corner to try to prevent bugs. The safe was also broken & they tried to repair it several times, the maintenance man said he'll speak with the front desk to get us moved, we didn't hear anything else so we didn't say anything, we wanted to avoid any issues. We booked the adults only section, which I do recommend. We were upgraded to VIP status, seemed almost like it was to maybe keep us safe or away from other guests. We are an LGBTQ couple & are aware that it is highly frowned upon in the country. When we were given our room & told it was a 2 bed room we did not say anything & never showed public affection. Unfortunately there are a lot of locals who stay here & we did get a few stares, making the stay very uncomfortable & we were worried about our safety. If you really would like drink it best to also buy your own bottle. The drinks are pretty weak. The food here is pretty good, we ate at the seafood & Italian restaurant. Not the best food but decent. The buffet is pretty sufficient. Now as for the Jerk Hut, we ate there EVERYDAY, it was delicious. The staff here are absolutely amazing, we have traveled abroad several time & have never been treated so well by the employees, The housekeeper was very personable & everyone at the VIP club room have to be the best hands down!!!!!!! I would love to see them again, they really seem to actually care & would help in anyway. I spent several hours there a day & they are very engaging, I was truly appreciative for all of them. The adults only beach is great, I did a lot of snorkeling & they have tons of beautiful sea life. Be sure to bring your water shoes, lots of sea urchins. It did rain most days but never a total wash out of a day.

Nice and Relaxing!

sharda3030 (Rosemount, Minnesota) on Jun 27, 2022

I very much enjoyed my time in Jamaica. The staff's were amazing, (Melissa P. housekeeping) is such a wonderful person. I wish they had more Caribbean flavored food and not so much blah food. Our shower did not drain very well, that was very disappointing even though the maintenance fella tried his best. I was a bit disappointed in the size and quality of the room for being a Holiday Inn Resort. Nightly entertainment was FUN! I would not recommend the Sea Breeze restaurant....

Good holiday ??

Markyd_1981 (Bishop Auckland, United Kingdom) on Jun 26, 2022

Had a very enjoyable holiday. Food was very good from the main restaurant. A la carte restaurants- Japanese worth the extra charge. Very good. The Italian was very nice also. The Jamaican and the seafood were not as good but still a good idea to use between Friday-Sunday when the hotel is full. Room Sevice was hit and miss at times. Some days we didn’t get enough towels. But rooms where clean. Bars had a decent amount of choice just not enough staff on. 1 bar staff on each made long ques on most occasions. Staff where all polite and would do anything you asked them. Mango ice cream was unreal :) TUI rep was very helpful and worked tirelessly to help with any Qs. The Air con needs some TLC as it sounds like a tractor but overall really enjoyed it!! Would we go back ??? Yeah definitely
