Firstly the good point; the hotel has its own private beach which is absolutely lovely and very well maintained.
Unfortunately the rest is pretty dire! Housekeeping came every day but the sheets were not changed the entire time we were there but the room was kept very clean. The rooms themselves were outdated, in desperate need of repair from taps coming off the walls to cracked or broken tiles. It's very clear that no money has been spent on the hotel in years! The internet connection was really bad, very little coverage and it kept kicking you out and you had repeatedly sign back in. In 2022 that should not be an issue!
The staff were in need of retraining, most of them stood around looking bored in the restaurant when there was tables to clear and the female staff were so grumpy it was borderline rude. Waiting ages for cutlery etc that we ended up fetching our own because the service was so bad. Male staff were much more attentive but as we're 2 female friends on holiday together, most of them seemed to think we were desperate for a guy and repeatedly gave us the come on. It got to the point that it made us so uncomfortable that we only ended up tipping one server because he was professional and didn't ask us out.
The food was edible most of the time but the selection was very limited, not good quality and they served chicken and pork every day of the week. The food was bland and didn't really taste of much.
The location of the hotel is awesome with a beautiful beach if someone actually spent some money doing the place up it could be amazing. However the hotel is run down, the staff were either grumpy and rude or trying it on to get laid. Unfortunately due to the lack of decent food, the bad service by staff and constantly fending off male staff advances made us to uncomfortable to return and we will never stay there again.

Me and my wife just spent 17 days in Royal Decameron Carribean in Runaway Bay. It was great, relaxing experience. Staff very friendly, specially lifeguard Shevaughn. Everyday made everyone on the beach smiling and being looked after. Even sang His own ( great) songs!
Thanks for great vacations!
I need to go back to Jamaica, but not there!

Don't get me wrong, on the whole, it was a good holiday. Beachside hotel, lovely little coves/bays which you could always swim or wade in. So brilliant for people who weren't strong swimmers or children.
The reason I wouldn't go back is, the rooms were tired, our hut (which we paid extra for) had slight holes in the roof. Thankfully it didn't rain enough to be an issue. You didn't always get hot water and when it was reported all I got was "we're working on it!". I have to say that the food was a little bit to be desired. I love, what I understand to be, Jamaican food, but it was bland and in some cases tasteless (that's when there was some). I maybe over exaggerated slightly on the last point, but some nights there were hardly any choices. To the point, towards the end of the holiday, we started going out for something to eat.
With regards to the nighttime entertainment...well. Firstly, you have to take on board that they are catering for the masses. The dancers whilst trying to be very professional, looked like they didn't want to be there, so I would suggest that they didn't give it their all. But what made it worse was, when they had finished, the compare on the night would come out and, quite frankly, tell the audience off for not clapping loudly enough. I was of opinion that you only did this when you enjoyed a performance? Difficult to do when you've seen the same routines a number of times. Anyway, big shout out to Gary Jackson (singer from near Kingston). The guy was a breath of fresh air. Gave a performance full of energy and a good singer to boot.
Also, big shout to the lads and lasses behind the bar, they worked really hard and were always smiling. Damien was a tough nut to crack, but we had him smiling in the end. Has to be said, some nights they were better than the actual entertainment.
So,in conclusion, an ok holiday with below average food and entertainment. But some great members of staff.
Note to the owners: Items mentioned could be easily rectified. Other guests compared you to a budget holiday park in the UK. I can only speak for myself and my wife, but we spent an awful lot of money coming to visit Jamaica and would have expected a better level of accommodation than we got.
Royal decameron has gone down big time

2nd visit here. After a couple of years things have gone down. 95% of the food is terrible, only some of it is nice. Have to wait for staff to bring knifes and forks. Some maid staff don't want to clean the room and turn up their face. Toilet constantly blocked up, problem with the AC that got sorted in the end. The only things that are currently nice at this hotel is the scenery, drinks and some of the staff. Security are friendly too. Entertainment was alright. Unfortunately I will not be returning expected alot more better from this hotel.
Don't listen to the bad reviews

Just arrived back from 2 fantastic weeks here at Royal decameron and it was better than expected. After reading the reviews I was anxious I wasn't going to enjoy myself but everyone was friendly and pleasant towards me and my sister.
We had a few disappointing trips which we booked before we came through tui and wish we'd have waited till we got there.
Overall a lovely holiday and we hope to return soon. Special thanks to Stephen who really looked after us on the beach whilst working hard in the hot sun.
Would return in a heartbeat and was good value for money to say its only 3star...a real Jamaican experience...we was going to stay at baha principle instead but changed our minds at last minute as we thought the other hotel would be too big. Locals are all OK and there's plenty of food thanks to yohan and his lovely food....plenty of choice. Location is ideal for getting about although I wish I'd taken American dollars instead of Jamaican dollars as everything is in USA prices.
