Surprised

This was a hotel I’ve always wanted to stay at. I finally got to last week. The grounds were extremely well kept. All staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. Despite construction, the main lobby was very clean. We stayed in Boca Chica in a 3rd floor water view room…great view of the castle and nightly boat parade and fireworks. Our room was spacious and clean. My surprise was with more of the little things that started to add up. - My 8 yr old arrived with a broken foot. Not one person asked if we needed assistance with wheel chair/stroller for the park or if we needed other assistance for this injury during the stay. - We were supposed to have free mini golf but no one told us until the night before we left. - The hot water in the entire hotel didn’t work for 12+ hours but no updates were shared or compensation offered. When paying $1,000 per night, I expect more. - We got back from the parks and were relaxing for the night so we decided to watch tv. My kid went to watch Disney+ but had to enter login info. While we have that streaming service, I was surprised that they didn’t offer it complimentary. - My sisters and their families also stayed at the GF. One sister was leaving early in the morning for the airport so she scheduled bell services to come to the room to get the luggage at a specific time. They didn’t show up. She waited 10 minutes and then she and her family just lugged everything out of the building, through the lobby, and out to the parking area themselves. None of these things individually were horrible but when paying a fair amount to be at a luxury resort, I was surprised that the ball was dropped. That being said, I still would stay there again.
Very expensive for the experience…

For the price paid, I was disappointed. I traveled with 3 other families, all Staying at the GF. While the rooms are quite large and beautifully appointed, the service was inconsistent, not to mention there was one day where there was NO hot water. There were several little extras we were supposed to receive upon check-in, which were not offered to us unless we asked. The food was mediocre at best and they nickel and dime you in every direction (ie: I had a full meal left on the meal plan, asked to use it towards a snack and they refused). They do accommodate food allergies, but expect to wait at least 20 minutes for your allergy friendly meal to arrive. I had to call and remind the bell check to pick up our bags on our departure day as they completely forgot two other members of our party. With all of that said, the beds were comfortable, the pool areas were fun and it is very convenient getting to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. At the end of the day everyone in our party agreed that at almost $1000 per night, we would go elsewhere.
