Nice property, tons of room for improvement with the staff and experience

We booked a 2 king bed suite with another couple, we each have one child so it was 4 adults and 2 toddlers in a 2 bedroom suite. It was a nice sized room with a separate living room and kitchen area with a balcony which was a huge plus. The issue however is upon check-in, they would not let the other couple in our party to the room because they claimed they were not on the reservation (they were and the hotel realized that after telling us they were not). They claimed that security was of the upmost importance so since they were not on the reservation they could not let them to the room. I bring this up because it was a very ironic situation considering when we got to our room, we only had access to half of it because they had already put someone in the other king room that adjoind to our room and the hotel didn't even realize it! This being said, we had already entirely unpacked our coolers, kids food, toys, etc. into the room only to have to pack it all up again and move to another room. The process of fixing this and finding us took about an hour and it ate into our time to be able to eat dinner and enjoy the pool. Not to mention our first room had a nice pool view and this room now faced a grass lot by the dog park in the back of the hotel. Not a great view trade off considering the mistake was the hotels fault. The front desk staff I forget his name but it began with an F and he was from Puerto Rico. He tried to do everything he could to make our stay more enjoyable and we appreciated that but unfortunately the damage was done, we never got into our corrected room until 8pm and they tried to make up for it with vouchers. The issue with the vouchers is they can only be used for the buffet breakfast (although the voucher says it can be used at the restaurant) and the drinks were a house wine or domestic beer which neither me or my wife drink. The pool area is nice, the water was warm on Sunday they had a DJ at the pool with some activities which was a really nice touch. We requested late checkout so we can enjoy the pool with the kids on the last day but although the room was available for late checkout, they wanted to charge us $30 for a 3 hour later checkout. We were not happy about that at all. Regardless of the cost, the $30 was no problem at all but after the experience we had, the fact they even tried to charge us something for simply checking out late was not appreciated at all. Overall it's a nice property, the restaurant is decent but the staff and service leave a lot to be desired. You can tell most of them are trying their best but there seems to be a lack of direction from management and a lack of experience in the staff. Not sure if this is an after effect of Covid but it makes a good property and hotel look really bad. I hope to see them fix these issues as the units themselves and the pool were very nice and very kid friendly. It was crappy feeling to have to rush out of the pool before noon to go back to the room and pack up to leave because they would not extend the courtesy of a late checkout at no additional cost. Again, the $30 was not an issue and was not the point. The fact they tried to charge it after knowing the experience we had was just wrong. It was honestly the least they could have done considering the mistakes on their part. I would not return to this property until they figure things out. Oh! Almost forgot, on the first night after all the check in headaches we went down to order the only thing we could which was pizza. The restaurant staff tried telling my wife they could not sell us pizza cause they ran out of boxes to put it in. We suggested they put it on a tray and we take it to the room that way and they said they were running out of trays too... so after a 2 hour check in process, being sent to an occupied room and then changing our room to a worse view, you then want to deny us the sale of pizza due to your lack of supplies and unorganization?!?! Very sad...

This is a good looking hotel with comfortable beds, decent service, free parking, close to Disney and the I4.

We had a one bedroom suite. It came with two queen beds and a sofa bed. It was a good size and more than enough for the four of my family (two adults, two young kids). The bathroom was big, although the tub was rather shallow, and the water pressure in the separate shower was the worst I've experienced in the US (the water pressure in the tub and the sinks was actually good, so I don't know why the shower had such poor pressure). I appreciated having a refrigerator and microwave when traveling with kids. Randomly, there were only three bath towels provided, despite the reservation being for four people. Also, they only put two pillows per bed, and the closet does not have enough pillows/sheets to make up the sofa bed (just one pillow, a single sheet, and a blanket). It took about an hour for housekeeping to send over an extra sheet and pillow. Everything felt pretty clean. There was no housekeeping during our short stay (COVID). There was a snafu when I checked in. They gave me the kids to a room that was already occupied. The matter was quickly resolved, but after a long day, I really didn't want to have to deal with this mistake while pushing a stroller and lugging heavy bags. The staff was very friendly and tried to keep lines moving. There is a restaurant on site. It is decent. There is also a full bar (we got a couple free beers upon check in). Room service is available. The pool is a decent size, and the kids absolutely loved it.

Great stay

We only had an overnight this trip and it was great like my last. The room was clean and spacious, with a great air conditioner that kept the room cool all day. The amenities were great too and smelled delicious! I'll definitely stay here again.

Wonderful customer service attention

This place exceeded our expectations. We had a wonderful covid-safe experience in the 2 bedroom partment we booked. Special thanks to Salma at the front-desk who assisted us on some unexpected issues related to our booking. Our experience would not have been the same without her help.

First time and last

The property really needs an upgrade and the views are of either larger powerlines or construction which isn't ideal. The staff were great and exceeded expectation. However, if you're looking for a nice place to stay in Florida I wouldn't recommend Melia until it's renovated.
