Great room and location

Romy M (Alkmaar, The Netherlands) on Aug 02, 2022

We opted for the riverview room and it was great. Awesome views, great big bed and very clean and updated room. The hotel is very beautiful and the location is also great. For the price of the hotel rooms however I would expect either parking or breakfast to be included but it wasn't. Nonetheless we enjoyed our stay.

Great stay.

Very good location downtown, close to a lot of Ottawa culture attractions. I loved the contemporary room, lots of plugs including USB plugs. Pool was busy as it’s summer but it’s a good size and is usually good for a workout swim in the fall/winter.

Amazing staff and hotel

arnoldtower1954 (Moncton, Canada) on Jul 24, 2022

Staff was friendly and welcoming upon entering the hotel. Room was clean and comfortable but a bit pricey but amazing. Was there for a family wedding and when we returned from the wedding, staff inquired about our time at the wedding. They were all very friendly and we definitely will be coming back!

Awesome staff and amenities

Thunderlips9 (Madrid, Spain) on Jul 24, 2022

Staff and room amenities were top rate. You feel welcomed the second you enter the door. Restaurant and bar are awesome. The quality of the breakfast needs improvement. The locations of the hotel was not a centric as I thought it would be. Overall I recommend this venue with the aforementioned caveats.

Unexpected total building power outage (May 31) and hairs on bed linens

CallSignGQ (Toronto, Canada) on Jun 08, 2022

For a first visit to a very new Hilton property in downtown Ottawa (finally), the one-night stay was a disappointment. I'm now travelling on business after the pandemic and want to rebuild my status with HHonors. So, I picked this brand new property for a business stay in Ottawa. On arrival on May 30, the service attitude of the front desk staff was disappointing. Didn't ask for my HHonors status nor provide membership level facilities as I would've expected. Moe and others seemed to be overwhelmed by arrivals at 6 pm on a Monday. There was a major convention (remember those?) in Ottawa that week. My room preferences (attached to my HHonors profile) for a high floor and away from the elevators were not honoured. I was placed in room 337, which was RIGHT BESIDE not 1, BUT 2 elevators on corner facing Queen and Bay St. Not impressed. Then like others have commented, there were strands of long hair on the bed under the duvet. Given the level of service from the front desk and how I was only staying a night, I let it go. Then came the next morning, check-out morning. May 31. Woke up and wanted to extend the stay. Called front desk around 7-something. No answer. Repeated calls went unanswered. I stepped out to go downstairs to the lobby to deal in person. It was then I found out there was a POWER OUTAGE in the entire building. Elevators stopped, and guests had to navigate the fire escapes that were TOTALLY DARK with not emergency lights. Many resorted to the cellphones to illuminate the dark stairwells. This is DANGEROUS. Also, at no time were any announcements made through a building PA system to inform your guests of this emergency and to stay calm etc. Injuries could've easily happened in pitch dark stairwells, especially for guests wearing heels or carrying baggage during the morning check-out period! When I got downstairs, I found the front desk in chaos. The power outage had also disabled parking garage doors, so guests cars can't exit for work etc. Donnelly (? I hope I remember her name right) was very professional and tried to handle the emergency as best she could. She told me that the system is down and that the hotel was full Tuesday night (May 31) so I couldn't extend any way. She took my room details and processed my check-out later that morning after power was restored. I left the property at 830ish. Overall, this is NOT the first stay at a new Hilton property. I know the building is in an old renovated building and not a new build, but this is not how I, a HHonor member, expects to be treated. And for your first property in downtown Ottawa as far as I can remember. I would like a phone call or email from HGI staff to discuss this stay. If unresolved, I would resort back to the 2 Hyatts in the Ottawa area where I have corporate arrangements with.
