An oasis in 117 degree heat!

H9152HKjordanm on Jun 21, 2021

Booked Valley Ho as our first post-COVID trip, only to realize as the vacation grew closer that the 10 day forecast showed record heat pretty much every day. Still, this was a fun place to battle global warming. The pool was great for me and my 16-year-old and 12-year-old kids, not huge but definitely with enough space to stretch out and swim a bit (for what it's worth we went for a few hours in the morning and on Friday night for about half an hour before pool closing). They had a reggae band on Friday afternoon that was fun to listen to. Location is great, very close to old town Scottsdale and Craft 64, a pizzeria/local brewery that was excellent. Zuzu was amazing… We went pretty much every day for breakfast/brunch. (Cinnamon roll waffle bites? Complementary chocolate-cherry scones on Saturday morning? C'mon, people, how am I supposed to go back to Cheerios now that the trip is over?) Went for happy hour and got the Mango tango while my kids got this orange crush shake with a popsicle inside. What I liked most was the staff, who were extremely friendly and accommodating. I'm terrible with names, but Magda(?) at the front desk went above and beyond helping us when needed and giving us great recommendations. Hope I get to come back.

Not Quiet or Relaxing at all.

We travel to Scottsdale frequently but this was our first time at the Valley Ho. We really wanted to like this place and rented a suite for a week for a special occasion. It seems that most fabulous reviews of this place are one time contributors. If you are looking for a drinking and spring break like rave experience this would be for you. We have been to many a pool party elsewhere, but here it went on for 4 days every afternoon for hours of very loud pounding noise akin to an elevated heart beat. The pool is a waist deep, and the "quiet" pool is a two lane lap pool, and the music can still be heard from there, in fact on Saturday it could be heard for blocks away and someone told me they could hear it from their room on the opposite side of the tower. We tried to make a reservation in the restaurant for a special occasion, and could not get a reservation either. I expected a bit more for the several thousand dollars we spent on the suite. There were also parking issues, and housekeeping never came despite the desk clerk putting in for one day of housekeeping when we checked in. When I called housekeeping, the woman there seemed stunned and I was told the order had never been put in. It seems to me the tactic here is to blame the guest if any issues arise telling you what you should or shouldn't have done, where you park, which suite you choose, etc. While the grounds and hotel look nice we have to wonder how long this property will maintain if the main focus seems to be on alcohol sales and the pool parties above all else.
