We stayed for one week (Sunday-Sunday) the last week in June/first weekend July. It was our first time in the Dominican Republic. We had a fairly easy check-in. The only issue we encountered was the app. It wouldn’t let us log in to make reservations (perhaps because we have an apostrophe in our name) so the front desk made our reservations for dinners for the week. The only glitch with these reservations was on one night, we had reservations for El Nopal on a night they were closed. After checking in, we took the tram with our suitcases to the rooms (we had two adjoining rooms since our children are 18,20 and they only allow 3 adults per room)—1 king size bed, 2 double bed rooms. Both rooms were clean, beautifully outfitted and updated. Comfortable beds, loved the rain shower. We were on the first floor in rooms 1128, 1127. The patios looked out to a small road so the view wasn’t great but we didn’t spend too much time out there anyway. The grounds for this resort are beautiful. We loved walking the path from the rooms to the lobby with all of the animals (turtles, birds, iguanas, cats). We fed or visited the animals each day as part of our routine. We used two of the 3 pools (the third is more for little kids) and both were large and clean. The pool bar pool is more entertaining as they have the animation team that leads activities at various parts of the day. We participated in aqua aerobics, frisbee, dance lessons, step aerobics and a couple crazy games while at the pool. Lots of energy from the animation team, especially Adonis and Julio. The staff overall is hard working and friendly (a few exceptions) but our favorites were Eduardo at the sports bar and buffet and Jose at the beach bar. Both went out of their way to make our stay extra special.
The beach unfortunately was covered in sargassum the week we went. Workers were busy hauling the seaweed away by hand in garbage bags and one day there was a bulldozer and dump truck hauling away loads of sargassum but it didn’t make much of an impact. So we walked the beach but didn’t go in the water there (we ended up doing an excursion to Saona Island for our beach fix and it was worth it).
The food at the buffet was pretty good. Breakfast was good because we got omelette each morning. Lunch was ok. Same choices pretty much each day and as someone who is pretty picky (only eat chicken, no other meat) there wasn’t a lot of choices for me. Their rice was really good and I had some grilled chicken a couple of the days. My daughter and I never had stomach issues but my husband and son did a little (took pepto and were ok to carry on). We only drank and used bottled water in the room and drank water served on the restaurants. The restaurants were pretty good. We enjoyed the Japanese restaurant, Tao Teppanyaki, where a cook makes food in front of you, although our chef, Fernando, seemed a bit agitated by some missing equipment as he cooked. Food was great though. El Pilon was a Dominican Republic restaurant. It was ok..staff wasn’t as good here and we were confused by the way you order (language barrier?). Fogo was a Brazilian shaved meat restaurant. Food was good but it took a long time for all of the courses to be served. La Tagliata was excellent (Italian food) and we each enjoyed our meals here. El Nopal was the Tex Mex restaurant. Food was good and we were happy with our meals. We also tried the beach bar for snacks/ lunch—limited choices but fun location. Sports bar was good too for fries, burgers and nachos. The coffee shop was great—we enjoyed our daily cappuccino and sweet treats. Crepes were yummy but they only made them limited hours. We also liked the ice cream shop but the hours were strange— opened later in the day. We enjoyed the drinks at the bars and didn’t feel like we needed to upgrade to premium—faves included mojito, cosmopolitan, pina colada, strawberry daiquiri, mai tai and of course mama juana. Finally the entertainment at night was fun. The schedule was unknown to us each day but we checked out a few of the shows and they were a fun way to end the day. We went bowling at the sports bar and that was fun too ($10/person). We didn’t use the spa, gym, mini golf or archery but we had plenty to do. Overall we loved the resort and the staff and will definitely return.
Best All-Inclusive We've Been To
(Saint Louis, Missouri)

We enjoyed Caribe Deluxe Princess so much that we would have to seriously consider going anywhere else next summer. Lots of positives!: we especially liked the second pool (next to Beach House); the resort is an ideal size (not too huge); you can easily be a part of the action or have space to yourself; the shuttle could always be relied upon for a ride with little wait; Mon-Thurs crowd level throughout the resort was ideal; Rooms/Restaurants/Bars/Everything felt new and clean (it's all been very recently updated); we had seamless no-problem check-in with our Monday-Monday stay; the main buffet had a nice air conditioned main room with sliding doors to keep the serving space cool and comfortable (we've been at resorts where buffet is terribly hot and miserable); separate coffee shop and ice cream shop are lovely--keeping them as separate air conditioned spaces near lobby keeps them well maintained/clean); beach is a nice size for walkers (it seems that the properties on either side of this resort are currently unoccupied); even pool side restrooms were new/clean; the Platinum Club WELL WORTH it ($40/adult per day and $20/child per day)--do what we did: go with least expensive room and add this on at check in and feel like total VIPs! The special section of the beach with cushioned beds was extremely relaxing; there was always a bottle of water and/or specialty drink at the ready for you here; the lunches at this Platinum restaurant were consistently delicious and personal; the excellent wifi was consistent; the 2 specialty dinner locations were excellent); the room a/c was great at night (and decent during the day); room shower was the best we've ever had at an all inclusive; clothesline on balcony; wristbands for room key are ideal; restaurants: we all thoroughly enjoyed La Cava and the Platinum dinners! We enjoyed Tao (the teppanyaki restaurant). La Tagliata (Italian) was also quite good. One of us enjoyed Nopal (Mexican), but the other 2 in our party aren't huge fans of Mexican food in the first place. We did not dine at the Dominican or the Brazilian restaurant. The Beach House was a favorite of our tween for poolside lunches--nachos, breaded cheese sticks, fries, and yummy desserts). Overall, we recommend as best all-inclusive we've been to (and we've been to a dozen)!
A few staff to acknowledge: Andres--butler in the Platinum beach bar--he was so friendly, got to know our favorite drinks, and he was always available. Patricio--waiter/server in the Platinum beach--he was timely and friendly with our lunch meals, and we were lucky to see him at our Platinum Restaurant dinner as well. Candida--bartender at the Platinum beach bar--was so friendly and welcoming. Uiber--server in the buffet--was always friendly and helpful.
A few areas to improve, in our opinion: resort needs to limit crowd on weekends (there were ridiculous crowds/waits at the buffet, at pools, and on shuttles on the weekends); the seaweed was excessive and seemingly not addressed (there was always a very small path cleared between the beach and the water--but it's kind of like getting a new car and not washing it--it seemed strange to have this beautiful newly upgraded hotel and not address all the seaweed that lined the whole beach); there were a few too many vendors on the hotel's beach and they were a bit too pushy; the evening of the market was unexpected with extremely pushy vendors as we simply tried to walk from the beach to our room to get ready for the evening)l the main pool water was never quite clear--it was quite cloudy; the night time shows start too late (9:30pm); any coffee drinker likely wishes that the coffee shop opened earlier--like at 7:00am.
