Overall good but would check out other resorts next time

867lorim (Northville, United States) on Dec 17, 2022

Some remarkable service, some mediocre service. Few really great meals, generally decent food and food options. Dessert was never that good. Rooms need updating but loved our swim out room. Enjoyed the premier club building and bar. The swimming pool and grounds are beautiful. Drinks were good and Iiked the coffee bar. Would’ve Iiked better pillow options. Loved the cabana and service at ocean. All in all, good stay.

Staff are great, but Dreams is coming to an end......

Stevo2009 (Norfolk, United Kingdom) on Dec 14, 2022

This was our 5th visit, and the first since the Covid pandemic. What we didn’t realise until after we arrived was that Dreams Resort & Spa is in the process of being sold, and the new owners are planning to close it – presumably for renovation or rebuilding. The timing is uncertain; our tour rep said later this month, the staff I spoke to thought longer. Regardless, the place is clearly being wound down. Compared to our previous visits, there appeared to be less customer facing staff. There were certainly less bars, restaurants and food outlets open, and less activities and games organised around the pool. And to be honest, maintenance of the facilities appeared to be restricted to only that which was absolutely essential. Given the circumstances, it’s probably pointless writing a detailed review, so I’ll make just a few comments. I don’t think the rooms have been renovated since our first visit, several years ago. They certainly have a tired appearance. The air-con control panels in both my groups rooms were broken, and as others have noted the mini-bar is not routinely restocked. The service is in the World Café is ‘interesting’….. This is the main buffet restaurant where you help yourself to food but depend on waiters / waitresses to serve you drinks. If you’re lucky, once seated your drinks order is taken quickly, but too often we had to wait several minutes before anyone noticed us, and even then had to make an effort to attract a waiters attention. That’s not a reflection on the table staff who were all incredibly busy and hard-working, but the organisation wasn’t really there, and I put that down to poor management. The person who I assume to be the restaurant manager never seemed remotely engaged and was generally more interested in staring at his cell phone than actually watching what was going on. The buffet food was tasty and pretty good quality, but all too often was lukewarm rather than hot. Great pizzas from the pizza oven though. That’s not to say Dreams isn’t still a special place, though. The gardens are still beautiful. The huge pool stretching the length of the gardens is still the crown jewel of the resort. And the biggest asset the hotel has remains its hugely warm and enthusiastic staff. Too many to mention in full, but I’ll make a special mention for Joel at Reception, Vianne, Giovanni, Miguelina, Kendra & Brandy at the Lobby Bar (I spent WAY too much time up there…), Stephany and Jenniffer at Coco Café, Rondon at the Theatre Bar, Ada and Clara (Egg Station and Fruit Smoothies in World Café). Thank you all for making my holiday a pleasure, and I hope things work out for you all, either with the new owners or at other Dreams resorts.

An ideal week in the Carribean

Sarah S on Dec 13, 2022

We have just returned from 7 nights at Dreams Punta Cana, where we we’re celebrating our honeymoon. Yes, the rooms need some TLC and some areas of the resort need an uplift however the staff are incredible - very friendly and hard working. We enjoyed a variety of meals, and there were no drink shortages we noticed! The Barefoot Grill had to shut due to strong winds however the staff served the food next to the bar instead. It is a shame the resort will close next week, hoping they keep the authenticity of it.

Thank you!

kims205 (Brockville, Canada) on Dec 07, 2022

We stayed for a week mid November 2022. Would like to thank the bartender Carlos at the little Sugar Reef beach bar, and all the beach wait staff for making our vacation extra special. They worked so hard to keep everyone happy. We also appreciated the hard work of the cleaning staff in building 3. We wish you all the best in the future.

Coco Cafe-I love!

Kristianspraggins18 on Dec 05, 2022

I loved the Coco Cafe and visiting the lovely workers there every day during my stay. The ladies were welcoming and loving. Be sure to speak to Dolores, Victoria, and Paola! They were great. The food was very fresh!
