This was my 12th stay at the VIK. I feel very comfortable here and appreciate many things about it. One of the best, in my opinion, is the size. This is not a mega-resort like many in Punta Cana. It is compact enough that even the rooms furthest from the beach are fairly close. The layout is such that the restaurants and bars are close to the rooms. There is easy access to food and drinks. Since resort has not fully opened the restaurants since the Covid shutdown, there is only one ala carte now instead of three. The menu is a revolving one of the three menus – Italian, Mexican, and International. All very good. My personal favorite is the Italian menu, specifically the salmon and the spinach chicken. The buffet is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A great selection of foods plus a pasta station and a stir-fry station. There is a snack restaurant near the pool and beach that serves from 11 – 6, serving brick oven pizza, hot dogs, and hamburgers. The resort has 5 bars, which makes getting drinks easy. The alcohol is national brand drinks, which I’m fine with especially the Dominican rum and Presdiente beer. If you need name brand drinks, go elsewhere. There is evening entertainment and activities offered throughout the day. The staff is wonderful, many of them having been there since before I started coming. Bartenders Pedro, Ricardo, Cristian, Severiano, and others are fantastic as is the staff in the resturants – Luisa, Fello, Jonathan, Juan, and others whose names escape me. Leonardo is the best egg man – gets everyone’s day off to a great start. The resort is on a beautiful white sand beach, walkable for miles in each direction. The beach suffered some storm damage in December, but they are working on repairing it. Like everywhere else, there is Sargasso grass, which they try to clean up as quickly as possible. If you are looking for a relaxing beach vacation with the ease of getting around, getting food and drinks, the VIK would be a good choice.

We stayed in building #4. It was a very quiet area. Close to all amenities. Room was clean. Never had any problems with hot water. A/c worked well. We really enjoyed the food. Every day there was something new and everything was so tasty. Staff was very friendly. Special thanks to Leonardo at Omelet station. There were 2 salt water pools - one is deeper, good for swimming, second one was shallow. There were some rough area on the bottom of the shallow pool. It is ok for walking but for games it is better to wear water shoes. Thank you entertainment team for making our vacation very enjoyable. Regarding drinks - we are not crazy about alcohol, so we drink mostly bear or drink made of bear and tomato juice. The beer was very good.

I will start by saying that despite all the shortcomings, we had a good time. But, this is not a four stars Resort. We bought it with little notice and close to new year's eve, so this time we went for the most competitive price since everything was more than double the price. If you want to avoid reading all the details, I can summarize this hotel as a basic three stars with poor maintenance; moreover, if you are not picky, you can have a nice vacation. Staff 4/5 Friendly and happy to help resolve any question or problem. (90% of them) Food 3/5 The variety of food seemed correct to me; delicious salads, and they even offered unlimited lobster for New Year's dinner. However, the flyer provides about five restaurants, but they only open one, plus the buffet. Facilities 2/5 poor maintenance. We stayed in block 5, ocean view, and the room was basic. The bathroom was clean but deteriorated (as seen in the pictures). The pool had hollows/gaps. The A/C was weak. Entertainment 1/5 I don't give a 0 because one day, the show was excellent. But in general poor entertainment. The new year "party" was boring, and they even failed in the countdown; the DJ was terrible. On the other hand, there were no activities included because they said they cannot bring the catamaran, boats, etc., to the beach for the erosion (hard to believe, hard to explain) Beach: 2/5 But it is not the hotel's fault, they suffered a bad storm one month ago, and the sea took part of the beach.

This is a 2 star review for a 2 star resort. Pros: -cheap -staff very friendly Cons: -AC went out for 2 days. Staff would not move our room even though our baby was overheated and screaming all night because of the heat. -beach is gone. Not the resort’s fault, but erosion has taken most of the beach, and I don’t see it ever coming back. We came here to lay on the beach and it was too crowded and not enough palapas. -baby’s crib was filthy -food not labeled vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc. I’m vegan and there was soy milk among a whole line of milks and yogurts but none of them were labeled. Beans usually didn’t have meat in them but sometimes did, making it really hard to find food. No tofu at any meal ever, even the Asian stir fry. Everything heavily salted and buttered. I ate mostly fruits, vegetables, and beans. -dinner STARTS at 6:30pm. This resort caters to Europeans who eat later, but is tough for families. There were always kids having major meltdowns at dinner. If the buffet started at 5:30 or 6pm kids would do way better. -no vegan desserts -no hot water. Stayed almost a month and took warm/cold showers every single day. -pool very damaged, missing large areas of concrete -toilets in common areas often clogged or doors won’t shut/lock -towels threadbare and falling apart -safes don’t function at all -people aggressively save seats. Don’t plan to sit somewhere nice unless you’re up at 5am saving them.

Comfort is always important. This place has a nice pool and view. But when I travel and at a all inclusive I want options and good quality. Food was so bad. We went out everyday for food drinks snacks and alcohol. I took photos of my food in hospital pans. Drinks were cheap and tasted awful. I travel all the time. I've never been to somewhere so bad. No idea why anyone thinks the food and drinks are good ? Was nasty, disgusting.
