3 star hotel, run down + poor service!!

aliksunshinelover (London, United Kingdom) on Oct 20, 2024

Jewel Punta Cana (previously Dreams Resort) should be rated 3 star maximum. The hotel is very run down and in need of modernisation. Our bedroom had ongoing plumbing issues for our whole stay. The shower was hanging off the ceiling and toilet leaked. We had someone come out every day to take a look at either a leak, blockage or safe in the room not opening. The wooden table in our room had a spider nest in and was infested! The main buffet food was fairly good, a good variety and was the saving grace of the hotel. The other restaurants are beyond awful! Tasteless, cheap food such as tortilla chips and cheesy sauce at the Mexican as a starter that you’d find better at a drive through. If you have a late flight and need somewhere to change, shower or wait, there isn’t anywhere!! I was 6 months pregnant and was told that we could only sit in reception to wait - for 8 hours!! as we had an evening flight back to the UK. Staff were rude & manager wasn’t available to speak to at any point. In the end we spoke to the spa staff who were helpful & kindly let us shower there - the receptionist had told us it was fully booked, although completely empty when we got there. The beach is beautiful, and pool was fine, but if we were to go back we would definitely find a better hotel. If you are used to staying in luxury hotels, I do not recommend Jewel!! Definitely worth paying more and having somewhere nicer to stay with good customer service for such a beautiful island ???

Booked here, don’t waste time, money and effort. get your money back, we are a week into a two week holiday been told property is sold this morning and being thrown out tomorrow. No consideration to customers whatsoever, real shame and severally let down on what was meant to be holiday of a lifetime on a special anniversary.

A must! Very lovely experience!

Jewel Punta Cana was a wonderful experience for my family and I. The hotel is beautiful, clean and very family oriented which is the primary reason that I booked. What I loved most was how friendly the staff was. They treated us like family and even remembered our names. Some of my favorite and unforgettable staff members that really made my trip special was Kelvin (concierge), Angelita (cleaning) & Cristina and Jennifer who work in the cafe. I always looked forward to my morning chats and coffee with Jennifer and Christina. They were so sweet. The food was excellent and the activities were phenomenal. Never a dull moment at this resort. I will gladly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Punta Cana.

Amazing vacay

1. The property: the property was beautifully landscaped and well-maintained. There was so much greenery. You really feel like you’re in paradise. If you are club level, there’s an adults only pool you have access to which was much more peaceful than the main pool. The main pool is large enough that you never feel really crowded. The music they choose creates a great ambience because at no point did I hear music that wasn’t appealing to everyone. 2. Food: the food overall was great. I enjoyed everywhere that I ate, especially the bean burger at the restaurant on the water. If you are, you can sit at a special part in the beach, where they serve food and drinks to you, which I highly recommend. The burgers and chicken tenders are homemade. The buffet offers fresh fruit, and breakfast. Every morning, my favorite part was the made to order pancakes, French toast, and eggs. Another wonderful amenity is the coffee shop, which is open all day. Jennifer and Christina were amazing baristas who were able to make any coffee I ordered as well as the signature coffees on the menu. They also have a variety of baked goods that are great for a grab and go. My favorite food was at the Asian restaurant where we had the best hibachi. Junior was our waiter both nights we had dinner there, he made the experience that much better. 3. Massage: the massages were incredible, we chose to have the massages out on the beach and it was just magical. It was actually the best massage I’ve ever had. 4. Cocktails: the cocktails were delicious, not what you would expect at an all inclusive resort. My favorite was the mango margarita and the passionfruit margarita, to my surprise, they were both made with fresh fruit, which made it so yummy. I Heidi recommend booking the club level option because you do get many more amenities and food options. The best part is the private pool and the private area on the beach where you are served food and drinks.

Decent not excellent

Gueva_Pine2travel (San Juan, Puerto Rico) on Aug 01, 2024

This complex needs a renovation as soon as possible. I imagine the new owners are trying to make money while they do it? Anyway, here are my observations: What we liked: - All the employees at this hotel are very friendly and helpful. - The common areas are kept clean and attractive. - Cuqui is a beautiful macaw that greets you every morning. - The pool area is spacious and welcoming. - They have culinary "diversity," which we appreciate because they offer it, but I'll explain later why it isn't so diverse. Dissapointed by: - The rooms are spacious but extremely deteriorated, at least the ones we were assigned (room E). - The air conditioning works well, but you can't adjust the temperature. - The finishes look poorly done, with paint or grout stains on the tiles. It doesn't give a good impression. - Our stay was for 6 days, but we were only given three towels for drying, no bath mat to step out of the shower, no face towels, and no conditioner. All these seemingly small details can make a big difference. Thanks to the kindness of the employees, they quickly resolved our complaints. - The assigned room overlooked the pool area, making it strategic in terms of location but very noisy during the day due to its strategic location. - The main pool area is beautiful, but they don't have enough umbrellas, so you have to keep requesting them. - The beach area is kept very clean, with comfortable gazebos and drink service, but it isn't very attractive. The heat causes black algae to constantly be on the shoreline, and there's only one spot where they don't accumulate, which is precisely where the people gather. LOL! - WARNING! The drinks are mostly served with house liquor (BRUGAL or something like that is the brand or distributor). Most are "frozen" but very tasty. Many are watered down, especially those on the rocks. - The eatery is quite decent, especially the fried chicken! They also serve hamburgers and hot dogs, all delicious, but WARNING, after 4:00 pm, there's nothing left, and the buffet doesn't open until 6:30 pm, limiting you to the Coffee Shop if that is an option for you. - I understand the hotel offers VIP pool and bar areas, but we chose not to use them, so this is our experience on the "common" side. The food: - They have an excellent breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet. Everything is fresh and very tasty, but after the second day, it becomes quite repetitive and lacks variety. - They have four additional restaurants: an Italian one (the best), a French one (the worst), a Japanese one (decent offering), and a Mexican one (tasty menu but boring). They also have an excellent Coffee Shop. - The entertainment offerings are varied, fun, and very good.
