Overall - I recommend this resort. You will be entertained, you will have plenty to eat, you will be able to comfortably get around to everything despite the size of the resort. The staff are friendly and care about your experience. They will go above and beyond to ensure that you enjoy tour stay.
Check in -
The process was easy. I arrived at 2:14 pm, paid my balance confirmed my dinner reservations, scheduled my Covid testing and had my room assignment by 3pm. These processes had to be completed at separate counters, and even received a drink within this time frame.
Room - I received a recently renovated Caribbean room and it was perfect!
It was modern, clean, the air conditioner did it’s job, the bathroom was really nice, the pillows and bed were comfortable. Everything worked! The liquor dispensers in the room are gone, but given the history I was totally okay with this. You can order nip sized liquor up to three per type per order through room service for prompt delivery. I had waters, soda, juice, and Presidente beers. The tv was big, and had lots of entertainment options. The hot tub was on the balcony and I had a peaceful view. I was not attacked by mosquitoes overnight and luckily wasn’t but once while there. My room was cleaned and replenished daily with no issue.
Dining - You will not go hungry here!
I picked Isla and Zen for Dinner Reservations. Ate at The Market for lunch, ordered room service for breakfast and took advantage of poolside meals during the day. I also ate at Isla for breakfast one day. Though there is a line for you to take advantage of the buffet style breakfast, it’s manageable and the food was good.
Isla’s Steak and Lamb Chops were to die for. My food was hot, perfectly cooked and seasoned well.
I never received a plate that did not look appealing nor did any of them have me in the bathroom all night. My advise is to stick to the dishes you know and enjoy the resorts version of them.
The pool food was also really good!
Getting around -
I stayed in building 5. I was able to walk to the main pools and the main lobby. I appreciated this because it allowed me to explore while working off my meals without it being ridiculous. Trolly’s were consistent and always stopped along the way to encourage me to hop on. I really enjoyed the breeze whenever I did decide to hop on.
Grounds- The grounds were immaculately kept. No garbage in sight anywhere. There are at least six different pools, maybe more. The Centre Pool and Eclipse Pool are the best because they have a DJ and MC that plays the best music! Around 4 pm daily you can see live performances by the dance teams. There is also food available! My best meals during the day came from the Eden Adult Pool.
Covid Testing - This is a mess and needs improvement. When you make an appointment, you still will not be seen for at least 20-30 minutes after your scheduled time. I never received my results and had to return to the desk the next day to request them. The person I went with received their results, but they got his date of birth wrong so we had to go have this information corrected.
The staff from the healthcare facility handling this process were a bit rude which didn’t make things better. Regardless, we managed to get what we needed to provide to our airline and return home. Just be prepared for a crappy experience here.
Night life- There are daily shows, performances at the pools daily until 6pm, bowling, laser tag, an arcade, a casino, music trivia at night at the eclipse terrace followed by music and dancing, moon lounge, omg the list goes on. You will not be bored at night. At least until about 1am. The night club is closed but you won’t miss it.
Vacation Planners- I utilized them to book a Balinese Bed, a couple’s massage and an off road excursion. They messed up my reservation, with the exception of the Balinese bed, by booking it under someone else’s room, but quickly fixed it and everything went according to my original plan. The host of the off road excision was amazing! I really enjoyed this excursion.
Wedding and Vacation Review

Check in was quite long as others have experienced, but they did serve cocktails in the lobby while waiting. Only one choice but it was cold and refreshing.
We did get one of the newer rooms in 4A, while other friends attending the wedding were put in the 7 building which is antiquated ... HVAC issues, TV issues etc etc. We asked that they be moved and that took 2 days and a lot of communication on our part. We rented a golf cart $90 a day $100 cash deposit which we did receive back. We're an older crowd and it was hot and humid as hell so it was needed.
My main issue was confusion. When someone tells you something, you need to double check and triple check as they all give you a different response. Here's where you go for covid test, you show up and NOPE. They changed the location. No one even hung a sign... we're all sitting there like idiots. Check out is at the Group Lobby, you ask again... oh no not for you, you're checking out early. Go to the regular lobby. we show up at the regular lobby and ... oh you're supposed to go to the group lobby, but we'll do it anyway Are you kidding me?
Another big issue with us was the music played at the pools... Is this not the Hard Rock Hotel? The main pool did not play one song at all ... it's all rap and island music How about some actual Hard Rock? My friend even tipped the DJ $20 and he then played 2 songs. That's it!! It was a bit better at the Eden Pool... where it was on a loop.
Ciao restaurant is horrid. 5 of 7 of us sent our meals back. horrible. the only thing good was the calamari. We didn't get to try all the restaurants due to the wedding. Another calamity occurred. The wedding venue was moved due to the weather? Which it was beautiful outside, no clue about that. The ceremony out on the beach was beautiful, the cocktail hour was moved to the convention area outside the ballroom. Not enough chairs, hardly any hors d'oeuvres, only one drink offered and we were surrounded with walls from a gynecological convention. So basically we sat there looking at walls with photos of vaginas and fallopian tubes. Why couldn't we have it in the ballroom if there was nowhere else to go? they told my son the tables were not set up yet? 30 minutes before a reception the tables weren't set up? I don't know who to blame for this one Hard Rock or the wedding planners "Destination Weddings". How embarrassing !! I spent thousands on this wedding and I'm sitting there looking at a wall with a uterus on it.
My favorite area was the coffee bar off the lobby... the ice coffee and lemon meringue bites were awesome and that was my go to every day. the casino was kept clean and safe and drinks were served often.
Lazy river was the laziest river I ever rode.... we had to push each other to move lol. Yeah I won't be coming back here again. Sorry but my experience here wasn't the greatest
