We absolutely LOVE El Dorado Maroma! Every time we go, it feels like coming home and every time I leave, it is heart breaking. You cannot get better, more personal service any where else. Not to mention, the beach is stunning and the grounds are just beautiful!
Eduardo was our day butler and went above and beyond to ensure we had the best stay possible. He was attentive, friendly, and pro-actively thinking of our needs before we even knew we needed it. His suggestion to have coffee arrive to the room at 8:00 was a small but amazing addition to our stay…no alarms and just waking up to a knock at the door with fresh coffee! Perfect way to start the day! Even after we left, he helped us sort out a return stay anniversary voucher that we forgot to get upon check out. We are so thankful for all Eduardo did and will certainly be requesting him again!
Marbel was our night butler. She was so sweet and though we didn’t need much in the evening, she was always sure to touch base to make sure we were all set. She even went above and beyond to show us a room in another building that we were curious about for our return stay. We will be requesting Marbel again as well!
Renee always makes THE BEST drinks and I always seek him out as soon as I get there! Diego was also so attentive and ensured we were always taken care of, especially on Renee’s day off.
Arturo on the wait staff went above and beyond each time he served us and always had a smile on his face. When he noticed the kitchen forgot to write “happy anniversary” on our dessert plate during our anniversary dinner on the beach, Arturo made sure to hand write it himself. This was so incredibly special to us and such a sweet thing for Arturo to do. The small details make all the difference!
Lilliana at the spa had such good massage hands that I had to request her for a second massage because I enjoyed it that much!
While these are only a few of the employees that made our stay so special, this level of service is what you can expect from every single person at El Dorado Maroma and is why we keep coming back. We are already looking forward to our return stay next year!

Fabulous reviews for this resort but this was our experience.
First I should say this was our 10th visit to Mexico, having stayed in RUI Palaces, Iberostar plus others, and a number of Karisma resorts , seasides, casitas etc. so we knew what to expect, but we’re very disappointed with Maroma.
From the Uk booked with TUI as we always do and big fans of Karisma resorts, pushed the envelope to stay in the flagship resort.
Very expensive for the Uk compared with other Mexico visits.
Visited March 2022 as a couple.
Arrived after 11 hour flight , 6 hour time difference was allocated a room overlooking the the stairwell to the adjoining blocks stairwell.
Spent an hour in reception being told we had to upgrade at a cost of between 2 & 3000 dollars extra for our stay
Wasn’t going to happen
Was told the the room the garden view room we booked did not exist. We were moved two days later but not after causing a hit of scene.
Two were closed
Italian was excellent, the Asian wasn’t for us, and the Caribbean was extremely poor by any standard let alone what we had at previous Karisma resorts,
Ate twice at the palifitos, excellent what I would normally expect of Karisma resorts but at a cost of 150 dollars for the two of us each time.
There was nowhere to enjoys an after dinner coffee and brandy , and a drop of brandy served in a half pint glass was not my idea of 5 star qualitity.
We did go to Ricks a couple of times and had a good night. But there was nowhere else to go after dinner, for a more low key nice environment night cap.
That said the grounds were beautifully maintained the staff were excellent,, as always, and the beach was fabulous, one of the reasons we booked.
Seaweed was a problem, but that is nature and they dealt with it extremely well as all the resorts on this stretch of coastline do.
We missed that there was nowhere to sit and have a nice before or after dinner drinks, and the upselling when we arrived was appalling.
This is a much loved resort by many but our experience was not good, and has put a serious damper on our Karisma experiences for future holidays.
