My best friend and I met for a dive trip to Roatan. We had both recently renewed our diving certification after years of not diving to raise kids. We wanted a place that would be patient with us, yet challenge us. We also wanted to see a variety of sea life (coral dives as well as wreck dives).
In a week’s time we had 15 dives and saw so much of the underwater world, too much to name here.
The hotel staff and diving crews were kind, professional, and darn fun! They guided us through not only scuba, but the challenges that Covid presents in traveling as well, we were even able to meet the owner, Julio, who came around one evening, to visit with the guests.
I have already booked a return trip for next year. I will be returning their often!
(I’m pretty sure this is the first review I’ve ever left on Trip Advisor, so I really hope some computer algorithm doesn’t cut this. Anthony’s Key is really a special place!)
Fun trip with exercise and relaxing

We stayed in a cabana over the water. The cabanas weren’t luxurious but very nice and were air conditioned. We enjoyed 2 snorkel trips every day. The restaurant offered vegan, seafood, and meat options ar every meal and were delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our 7 day trip included a dolphin encounter. We met with a dolphin and her trainer. She swam buy so we could rub here and the trainer instructed her to tricks. It was a fun experience.

Stayed for a week of diving with my diving buddies
! I couldn’t book a a/c room, surprisingly it was ok! It’s humid and hot but I acclimated pretty well to the climate, nice breeze! The “ no see ums “ were nasty and no sprays kept them from biting but a good shower to get salt off! Dive master Alson and Capt Jimmy were fantastic! I had a pedicure ( wore off in one day) midweek and outstanding massage on two for Tuesday by Sandra??????????
The food is so wonderful I hate the thought of cooking when I go home! Chef cooks to your request, excellent restaurant service, thanks Marcos and Hill????

Took a weeklong, all-inclusive dive trip to Anthony’s Key Resort on Roatan. First off, this was an amazing trip! Everyone was incredible…very personable and friendly. The food was incredible and the service was excellent. Three dives per day were excellent. Our divemaster and guide, Alson, was friendly and sooo much fun. Our boat captain, Elwis, was helpful, friendly and made every effort to help make each dive easy amd enjoyable. The two night dives and two wreck dives were interesting and enjoyable. All the diving was perfect — 82 degree water and warm air temp. There was a good bit of wind while we were there but it was manageable. Melloney, the manager, went out of her way to ensure we had the best time. During check-in, she came around to each table (no group check-in due to COVID) and made sure we were taken care of — room keys, orientation, WiFi password, dive gear procedures, meal timelines, facility overview, etc. Additionally, we went to a very informative fish ID presentation and Roatan Marine Park overview. This is a must do!! Sooo good! Accommodations were somewhat spartan but very comfortable. No TV, no phone but warm water and a very comfortable bed. It was a welcomed respite from our busy life back home. Pool was wonderful and Timmy, one of the pool bar bartenders, was great! Lastly, getting into Roatan during the later stages of COVID was easy and painless — provided you followed the guidance and completed the required paperwork. Thankfully, AKR provided step-by-step instructions on completing everything. Follow the instructions on the AKR site! All-in-all a wonderful trip only made better by the friendly staff. If you’re thinking of diving Roatan, AKR is the way to go!!

We usually stay at WEV for diving but stayed here for the first time since they had on-site covid testing for our return to the US. Meals and drinks were excellent. I don't think we had a repeat lunch or dinner menu for the entire week. Big thank you to the restaurant and bar staff! Their dive boats were roomy, had lots of shade, reasonably fast and most importantly had excellent ladders for getting back onboard in rough water. I was not that impressed with the 2 dive guides for the week, even though they were both local Roatan guides. They just did not seem to be that interested, but I am comparing them to Seagrape guides who to me are the best on the island. Dive support staff were excellent, almost every tank was 3000psi, and were very knowledgeable about any problems. They provide individual lockable dive lockers but divers are responsible for setting up, washing and hanging up their own gear. Our unit was on the island, so we took the boat shuttle many times. Thanks also to the shuttle crew for making the quick trip very enjoyable. There are apparently some island units that have been remodeled and some not. Island units 41-44 and 48 are good. Avoid unit #27, it is one of the oldest, not very roomy, has no real closet and needs an electrical upgrade. They also have units not on the island. AKR is also building a new reception and restaurant on the same level as the dive shop and boat dock which should be completed by the end of 2021, but until then guests will still have to climb multiple steps up to the present restaurant & bar, so not for those with mobility issues. AKR's program of critters of Roatan should not be missed. Wish they had it more than once a week. Same with their beach party with local band and entertainers. Like everywhere else on Roatan, mosquitoes or sand fleas are still an issue so don't forget the bug repellent.
