Hopefully next time will be better

It was overall a nice stay. We got a suite to celebrate our daughter’s birthday over there. The suite was really great, with two balconies, 2 big bathrooms. Two issues though: - my husband walked on pieces of glass near the kids pool the first day we arrived. He bled a lot. So he couldn’t go to the pool for two days and had to walk carefully with his injured foot. We were told that someone will contact us regarding this issue but nobody did. - we left the cake out for a short time and got ants everywhere! Mostly in the bedroom I was using. There were so many, that we had to ask the hotel to send someone to take care of them (which helped). The pools were great, and our daughter enjoyed the ice cream shop and “sand playground” for kids.
5 Star Resort? Maybe in Afghanistan?
H2608YLtonyl (Key West, Florida) on Jan 20, 2023
Wellness Center & Resort are not 5 Star anything anymore. The “Spa” is understaffed! There was no bottle of water given in locker. Jacuzzi tub still out of order, like 8 months now. Towel I received for sauna was paper thin, something you would get at a Holiday Inn Express. No attention to detail that made this 5 stars at some point. There was a ceiling light out in steam room and no treat given after receiving a massage. The Penny pinching continues to their customers while rates remain high! At the resort, same story! Huge beautiful flower arrangements in lobby are gone. No lemonade or wet towels given to arriving guests. Room is in disrepair and upgrades are past due for $800-1000 night. Went to lobby bar for a glass of wine and had to choose between a Fairmont cab at $32 glass or an Opus One glass at $190. This is a lobby bar, not South Beach. New owners have done away with all the little amenities that kept guests coming, now it's just a money grab until they sell in 2 years. Went to grab and go to pick up a coffee. 18% service fee added to bill plus workers have a tip jar! Chocolate covered Oreos guests used to receive for free during turndown service is now $3 plus 18% plus tax and tip! This will be my last visit. Grounds are beautiful but don’t appreciate the nickel and dining of guests!
