Poor experience at Limewood, marginal customer service

Madhu P on Sep 22, 2023

The hotel and grounds are nice and comfortable, and the facilities are good. We had an unfortunate experience at the Limewood restaurant which is part of the hotel. We stayed in a premium room for 2 nights, paying almost $1000 per night, and walked into a nearly empty restaurant at 11:45 am. We were escorted to a table near the entrance to the outdoor seating area and told there were no other options for seating due to prior reservations. The restaurant was more than 90% empty. Lunch just doesn’t take that long, and frankly the restaurant shouldn’t have a table in the midst of busy foot traffic. I had hoped to bring other family members to this facility as it is otherwise very nice, but there are MANY choices in the area and I am reticent to pay $1000 or more nightly for a facility that gladhands guests.

Effie is what makes the Claremont better than the rest

ikbremner (San Francisco, California) on Sep 18, 2023

The Claremont is one of my favorite local splurges - you can beat the views, the grounds, the charm - plus the pool, Limewood bar & restaurant, and the super comfy beds. It's a great place to stay for July 4th or NYE to view the fireworks (if there's no fog, ha). East Bay Provisions cafe has a great selection of breakfast & lunch options, and Rick & Ann's across the street is excellent for brunch too. But what keeps me coming back to the Claremont is: EFFIE! She always makes me feel welcome and goes out of her way to provide a personalized experience. So I highly recommend you splurge on the Claremont, eat oysters & drink champagne around sunset at Limewood, swim in the pool, lounge in the robes, and say hello to Effie!
