Honest review. Don't go here.

Ok. This is a totally honest review from well travelled people who know that not everything in life is perfect....however. My wife and I have just returned from a two week holiday at the Royalton. Now, we had read many of the poor reviews in the months running up to our holiday and were very close to changing hotels. I wish we had. Here we go, so buckle up as it isn't going to be pretty. On arrival, having travelled for many hours from the UK, we were not greeted with any cool towels or a welcome drink, which is usually customary at most so-called high-end hotels. Instead, we stood for ages waiting to check in, then had to take our suitcases to the room ourselves as the bell boy clearly couldn't be bothered and actually said "your ok taking these yes". Remember people..this is meant to be 5 star. Anyway , we arrived at our room, which looked ok at first until you looked close to the filthy sofa and dirt in the corners . Now there were many other issues and some were dangerous but we can't go into them as we are taking them up with our holiday company. At breakfast, the service is the worst we have ever experienced. The staff were rude , unhelpful, and so lazy it was incredible . We made such an effort to be nice and smile, but they clearly didn't want to be there and took it out on us. Water and coffee and tea took so long to arrive that quite often we had finished our breakfast and had to keep asking the staff but they just didn't want to help us. One day, my wife asked a lady with the cutlery tray for a spoon, and she actually said no ! Evening meal in the buffet was much the same but slightly better. The staff just didn't want to help you. One evening, we asked for 2 drinks, and the waitress said ok then went and hid in one of the many hiding places they have. I called over the supervisor and complained as I had had enough by this point in the holiday as it was every evening. The bars are a joke constantly running out of main ingredients, and then the staff just shrug because they couldn't care less. Some of the staff at the mix bar are too busy chatting up people to even serve you. There is a food van by the kids play area that actually does good food. However, the lady that was serving most days called Rose was the rudest of all the staff we encountered. She virtually throws your plate of food at you and is honestly one of the rudest staff members we have ever experienced anywhere. Here is a quick list of other issues - Steak house ran out of 3 types of steak Fridge wasn't re stocked in room. Towels not left in room. Maids shouting outside room at 7:45 am. Smell of sewage in shower. Ripped sun beds Tiles missing from pool. Jacuzzi half empty. Then, on our last evening, we just wanted a nice drink. However, the Mix Bar, true to form, had run out of most ingredients. So off we went to the sports bar where there was only one person serving. It took 20 minutes to get a drink. So here are some positive points so the reply from management can focus on those in their reply to this review and then say how sorry they are as this is not the service they set out to achieve as they have done for the last few months on any negative reviews rather than sorting the issues. Grounds are lovely. Some staff are nice. Not many but some. Beach is small but nice. So to sum up. Every day at this hotel we had issues. Mostly with the terrible rude service. We had travelled a long way and paid a lot of money expecting a great St Lucia experience but this hotel is a disgrace to this beautiful country. St Lucia is gorgeous so get out and about and explore but if all you can afford is the Royalton just take your money and go elsewhere as you work hard for your holiday so don't give it to this hotel because they do not care about you. This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed at due to the fact we wanted a relaxing break and just ended up frustrated.

Housekeeping was great, landscaping is beautiful. The food was very good. The drinks were OK. My problem comes with water sports are not available. Our entire trip. Snorkeling is no longer offered even though it is advertised. Kayaking and paddle boarding were canceled because the rescue boat was down. And guest services Did nothing about it. They seem to have cared less about this. Save your money go to a resort with better guest services and more things that are truly offered not just advertised.
