Four Day Trip with Teens
rg654 (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) on Mar 23, 2024
We are a couple in our forties traveling with our 14 and 12 year old. We stayed for four full days and five nights. We had previously stayed at Grace Bay Club and Seven Stars. I have to say I am torn about the property compared to those two others. We were in a two bedroom unit (401). Our arrival was odd-no one was waiting when we pulled through the circle driveway. No bellman, no receptionist. So, we self parked and walked into the lobby with our luggage. The reception by front desk was lukewarm. We felt like it was almost more like an apartment building than a hotel. The best part of the property I would say is its condition and size. It only has like forty rooms so nothing ever feels really crowded and zoo-like. The property is gorgeous. All the furniture is new and they have gas fireplaces throughout the outdoor area. No fighting for beach chairs or stools at the swim up bar. You just show up and they are there. The staff were friendly and helpful but it felt like they were understaffed especially at breakfast so you would have to wait some time for coffee, to order food or to receive food. It was manageable but not ideal. I would say the hardest thing about the property is the location. Leeward is very pretty but the beach is compact and the views just aren’t comparable to grace bay. We did go to the sister property a few times but it was very difficult to find chairs on the beach and the beach itself was very busy. The room was spacious and nicely appointed. I would recommend that they upgrade the sheets which felt scratchy, hospital quality. There was construction across the canal facing our room. The noise did not bother us particularly but if you are sensitive to banging, truck engines or the beeping sound made when trucks back up, bring a pair of earplugs as they seemed to start around seven am. We loved the view from our room as we looked right down on the canal and could see sea turtles, sharks and stingrays. The food was great at salt and fire and ice. It just got monotonous after a while so we ended up eating out a few times to mix it up. The drive to other places on the island got cumbersome especially at night. Overall, it was a great stay. Pretty property, competent staff and good food. Bring bug spray, a sweater or sweatshirt as it got cold and windy at times at the property and the airport, which I will post about in the forum, is a disaster for Saturday mid-afternoon departures.
Holiday in paradise
Andrea M on Mar 22, 2024
My husband and I had a fun, pampered and relaxing holiday at the Blue Haven Resort inTurks and Caicos recently. From the moment we arrived and were greeted at the front desk by Devon for our first class check in,until it was time to leave 6 days later we were delighted by everything this resort had to offer. Daily we were entertained and delighted by the games and activities at the pool by the witty and entertaining Smiley, with play makers Tishane and Coco. The fun never stops. The pool and beach at this resort are beautiful beyond expectations; clean, well tended and always with room to relax on loungers or pool side tables and chairs at the grill and bar. Kamar at the Seaside Grill always made sure we had our lunches and drinks with a smile and friendly conversation. For breakfast and Dinner we enjoyed the Fire and Ice Restaurant on the property where we met Michael who made sure our dining experience was second to none. We were delighted with conversations about the island and some island traditions. It just added so much to our experience inTurks and Caicos. And the food at this restaurant is amazjng. We enjoyed the live entertainment of a saxophonist at dinner one evening.Tange at the tour information desk was so friendly and helpful about any island tours and events for guests. We loved the Carribean Fiesta and buffet with live entertainment. At the buffet there was an amazing presentation of salads, main dishes, desserts. Shaneka a duty manager at the front desk always had a smile and was always ready to help us in any way she could. Blue Haven Resort is a gem and we definitely will be returning again for holidays.
