Excellent location, good hotel, crowded/small lobby and dated bathrooms

This Marriott is at an Awesome location in Downtown and about a block from then seawall and Canada Place. It has a lot of good restaurants and shops in walking distance and it is easy to rent a bike nearby to ride to Stanley Park. Parking is expensive ($45/night including taxes) - so do consider that as part of their cost. The lobby is also on the smaller side and was always crowded (which didn’t bother me). I was travelling with Family and we had Platinum status; so we had a room on the 19th floor where the view looked over buildings but we could see the water from the corner. We also had access to Concierge lounge which is decent with a good view of the waterfront. The reason In took a star off was primarily due to the bathroom and toileteries. The room is on the smaller side but what one can expect in downtown. The bathroom is clean but dated with no place to even hang a hand towel. The shower stall was quite small primarily because it was separated from the bath tub. They provided a small soap and a tiny body lotion; showever has gel/shampoo/conditioner dispenser. However, this was quite stingy and didn’t even smell good. Breakfast at restaurant was good though expensive. Overall, an excellent location, a good though slightly dated hotel but the bathroom and amenities need an upgrade!

Terrible service and room dirty

We stayed as part of Titan Travel group both prior to our cruise and two nights afterwards. The concierge did not take our luggage in both occasions and refused to go outside to find a taxi which should have attived with our missing luggage. Cases and hand luggage were left unattended in the foyer on both occasions so we had to take them up ourselves. It was obvious that as a group we were not given the right service and porterage as individual guests. The room was not ready as previous guests were prioritised for late check out. We definitely got the impression that we were of a lower priority and not worthy of service in their eyes. The room was thick with dust and had not been cleaned. It had not been vacuumed either. In hindsight, I don’t believe that the bedding had been replaced either as they prioritised previous guests over us. The following day the room had not been serviced, excuse being due to Covid, but we were not informed at check in. Yet the room had not been cleaned between guests and was thick with dust (and therefore germs). The safe is on a high shelf in the wardrobe so most guests would not be able to reach it. We had asked for a step and it was suggested to stand on a chair! It look us three attempts and complaints in order to get this. We asked for towels and coffee pods, they were all dumped in the bathroom (including sugar and coffee) and the dirty towels were not removed, additional disposable cups were not left and the beds not made. There are plenty of hotels to choose in Vancouver , so I would recommend that you avoid this one. We definitely did not get the service expected from a 4 star hotel and it certainly let the Marriott name down. On return home one of us has tested positive for Covid. As she kept distance and wore a mask all the time whilst out and about we believe that this was contracted from the dirty room. The cleanliness of this hotel is shocking, yet they use Covid as an excuse for not servicing rooms. In reality it would more likely be due to staffing issues or untrained staff. Do not book this hotel if you don’t want to pay for services not received or would prefer to avoid contracting Covid.

Disappointed

Stayed here two nights before a cruise. The room was okay but dated. The location relative to the cruise port is okay, within walking distance. The disappointment was that since I am Marriott Gold I was not offered either a bottle of water or the opportunity for additional points. Even when you stay at a Fairfield Inn this type of thing is available without asking.

Really nice hotel in great location.

Really good location, near a lot of what you want to see. Hotel is in good condition and updated somewhat. Could use some new TV’s and keyless entry. Staff was excellent and very helpful. You can walk all over the city if you’re an avid walker, just steer clear of the outskirts of Gas Town, unfortunately.

Great Visit

Finally, I encountered a full service Marriott that, just like the old days (pre-Covid), has returned the level of service to Marriott elites. I could not have had a better experience. Mobile check-in was seamless, and we were upgraded to a wonderful corner bay view room. The doorman assisted us with luggage transfer and explained everything about the hotel. The front desk provided endless bottles of water, along with both appetizers and breakfast buffet coupons daily. Self-parking is easy (get ready for the $45 CAD sticker shock however). I never had any problem finding a parking space near the hotel elevator on P3 level. The bed was very comfortable, hot shower nice and strong, and towels nice and fluffy. A comfortable robe is supplied along with a large umbrella in each room. Keurig machines are also installed ensuite, and a small refrigerator. Breakfast buffet was great -- eggs to order, waffles on the weekends, and lots of other good foods to choose from. The appetizer menu was just okay, but portions were sizable. In all, with the marvelous exchange rate (weak CAD), this was a luxurious weekend. Can't wait to go back.
