Be Live Experience...Meh
GrammaPuff on Feb 04, 2023
This experience was overall ...meh The rooms where we stayed in building 4000 were very dated and stuffy The beds were comfortable and the ac worked..it'l dripped a ton so we had to use towels to ensure you don't slip . Our toilet ran the entire time but we were able to shut the door and with earplugs you didn't notice it while sleeping . We had no view from our balcony and due to the proximity of other rooms and walkways we needed to keep our drapes closed for the majority of the time . The overall upkeep of the grounds and buildings were again ..OK.. and before people jump all over .I have been to Cuba 9 previous times so I have various resorts to compare to The buffet was fine , great selection of roast beef , turkey and meat , cheese, bread and butter . No complaints The amount of stairs and levels is something to be aware of if mobility is a concern . There are various elevators, I never used them and throughout our stay various ones were out of order. All alcohol including , beer , wine and vodka were available . Red wine was only served at the restaurants and beer is not served in the upstairs bar. The staff were again meh...we love to come to Cuba and get to know the staff but this was the only hotel that I made no connection with . The beach ..well it's the beach in Cuba was phenomenal and sandy , no rocks ,coral just beautiful. The sunshades were oddly short ...you were unable to really sit under them , very odd There were more on the right side but they often were without lounge chairs. The animation team was ..well meh as well ..they didn't socialize or really encourage participation in the few activities they had available. We really are only on resort for 3 out of 7 days as we use the resort as a launching spot..but I would not return to this hotel .
Not so good, old

If you like cleanliness and quality stuff avoid this hotel. People is super nice but once they get to know your name and provide you good service they will request if you can give them clothes the sunglasses you are wearing shampoo soap money tips, and it happened with the people from the beach the pool the restaurant. There are some twin brothers who are the lifeguards and will sell Cuban pesos, but we didn’t change them since in Varadero people does not receive pesos (unlike in la habana) and one of them would ask us everyday to exchange money, it’s kind of annoying because you just want to rest I mean after it’s vacation. The food is the same everyday, I would recommend people to bring their salsas since there is not even ketchup. There is also no drinks besides sodas and cheap alcohol. I saw a foreigner couple who did not speak Spanish and everytime they would ask Diet Coke, they would get the sugary soda cola from Cuba, why weren’t they informed that there was not Diet Coke? The lady that received us in the counter did not inform us about the “amenities” or schedules or tours or general information, she was busy all the time talking by phone. The beach is amazing but I was actually prepared to be in a nice hotel and this is just an average hotel
