Nine-year WestJetter, Shannon Morin, Analyst, Maintenance Programs, Encore Tech Ops is one of 16 President’s Award winners, who demonstrated incredible tenacity throughout the pandemic and consistently went above and beyond for WestJetters and everyone in WestJet’s world.

Known as the “energizer bunny” on her team, Shannon is highly regarded by her peers and leaders for her positive attitude and willingness to take on every challenge presented to her. Over the past two years, as a result of organizational changes due to the COVID-19 Shannon took on full ownership of new roles and responsibilities; between facilitating integral coordination between four departments through effective communication or her unwavering commitment to seeking out solutions, Shannon seamlessly demonstrates time and time again that no problem is too big for her to solve. Working together to win is in Shannon’s nature, both inside and outside of her department exemplified by her willingness to go the extra mile to support those around her.

Describe WestJet in three words.

Culture, spirit, and teamwork.

What is one thing you want to share with our guests?

I’m not a frontline employee that you’ll see or interact with. I’d like guests to know there is a whole lot more people in the background working hard to get you to your destination safely and on time.

What has the last year been like for you?

It felt hectic but I’m grateful. I'm so thankful that we all worked together to continue flying through the pandemic.

What does winning a WestJet Group Award mean to you?

I was so honored. I just come to work and do my job, I never expected anything like this. I couldn’t do it without the amazing team I work with.

What Shannon’s leader had to say:

“COVID-19 impacted all WestJetters in many ways, for Shannon, it meant taking on new responsibilities,” said Lisa Davis, WestJet Vice-President & General Manager, Encore. “While it would have been easy for anyone to become overwhelmed, Shannon never shied away from any opportunity thrown her way and did so with grace. Shannon is counted on by all those on her team and despite having a full plate, never fails to go the extra mile to support those around her.”
