This Thanksgiving weekend, WestJet saw significant demand for travel throughout the long weekend as guests from across Canada took advantage of the long weekend to connect with their friends, family and favourite destinations. Throughout one of Canada’s busiest travel weekends, WestJet flew more than 300,000 guests and carried the most guests per flight in a single day since 2019, on Friday, October 6.
Reporting a completion factor of 99.5 per cent and an on-time performance of 80.8 per cent on all flights throughout the holiday weekend, the airline continues to demonstrate significant operational improvements and resiliency to fulfill growing demand and support the travel plans of its guests.
“The fall travel season is now in full swing, and as we look ahead to the busy winter travel season and the Christmas holidays, this weekend’s operational performance gives me great confidence that WestJet will continue providing our guests with the reliable travel experience they deserve during peak travel periods,” said Diederik Pen, WestJet Group Chief Operating Officer. “I am extremely proud of all WestJetters who were essential in ensuring a successful operation over the long weekend who continue to exemplify an unwavering dedication towards building our momentum, and building WestJet’s operational dependability when it matters most.”
