WestJet today announced it will open a seasonal crew base in Québec City this winter, reinforcing the airline’s long-term commitment to the province and its travelers. Operating from December 2025 through April 2026, the new base will allow WestJet to better serve the strong demand for winter sun destinations from Québec City, while creating local opportunities for crew to live and work closer to home. “Québec City is an important part of our network, and this investment reflects our deep commitment to the province,” said Lyne Chayer, Vice President, Sunwing Vacations Group Québec. “With this seasonal base, we’re strengthening our presence in Québec, making it easier for travelers to reach the sunny getaways they love, and building closer ties with the community we serve.” From Québec City, travelers will continue to enjoy convenient nonstop flights to some of the most popular sun destinations, including Cancún, Punta Cana, Montego Bay, Varadero, Puerto Vallarta, The Island of San Andres (New!) and more. “This is great news for both our guests and our people,” adds Chayer. “By opening a seasonal crew base in Québec City, we’re not only delivering reliable service during the busy winter months—we’re also creating opportunity for our crew to remain rooted in their community while supporting the growing demand for travel.” While the base will operate seasonally to align with peak winter travel, Québec City remains a vital part of WestJet and Sunwing Vacations Group’s year-round strategy to grow and invest in Québec. At this time, Québec City will operate only as a seasonal crew base, with flying from the city predominantly focused on winter sun destinations. For the remainder of the year, domestic and international operations to and from Québec City will continue to be served through Montréal crew base and other nearby stations.
