Travelling with children between 2 and 16

Flying as a family takes a lot of planning. So apart from answering “Are we there yet?”, here are a few things that you’ll need to know about travelling with your family on WestJet.

Guidelines for accompanied travel

  1. Children under the age of 5 must be accompanied by their parent or a person who is at least 16 years of age.
  2. Children 5 years of age or older must be accompanied by a guest 12 years of age or older.
  3. Children 12 years and older are eligible to travel unaccompanied and unsupervised but cannot accompany children under the age of 5.
  4. Children 16 years of age or older can accompany infants and children ages 2 and up.

Seat selection

Children 2 years old or older need a ticket to fly and up to age 13, they are eligible for family seating, for no extra charge.
