Said they were open but beach was closed 4 of 5 days there. No cold water in shower. Called 3 times but didn't get fixed till 3rd day in room. Did get a 200 dollar resort credit but would rather have shower that worked.

Unfortunately this was not the 5 star experience we are used to or expected. The beaches were closed for our entire stay, the resort never advised of this prior to our arrival; as a first time sandals guest we were not advised of all the restaurant guidelines and check in / reservations policies, service was poor with the one exception of Marsha and Kelly at the pool cabana service. They knew how to deliver 5 star service. Food was average and not many choices, pool bartenders at main pool were rude and very slow, always running out of alcohol and leaving guests to find something else. No beach excursions were allowed and beaches were closed for our entire 5 night stay. Did not provide clean towels or amenities unless we called and rooms need updating not the room you see online. I was celebrating my birthday which they never acknowledged. The grounds were gorgeous but most of the resort needs work. I don’t think this is a brand we would recommend based on this experience. We travel a lot and have lots of other options offering great deals and 5 star service.

This is a 3 star resort

My husband and I will not be returning to or supporting any Sandals resorts. This entire experience with Sandals has been a nightmare. - Sandals Antigua is NOT a 5 star resort. Sandals should not be on the same list as Four Seasons, Ritz, or any actual 5 star resorts. Sandals' wine list consists of wines that you can buy from the wine store for $6-$20 - i.e. Woodbridge and Ruffino. Their food was mediocre - I can 100% cook better than their restaurants. I've stayed at 4 star hotels that were better than this place. The grounds were nice, and staff were nice, but that's about it. Weighing all this out, I would give this resort 3 stars. - The beach was ok. We've been on nicer beaches - i.e. Turks -The crowd was interesting... will not get into detail on this, but it was not our crowd. but I can understand why this crowd would rate the resort 5 stars. Now let's talk our personal experience with Sandals: Nightmare #1: My husband and I booked a trip to Sandals Bahamas for April 2020, but Sandals closed on us due to the pandemic. Even though Sandals closed on us, they would not refund our money. They claim that their agreement grants them the right to retain our payment. As a large corp, I trusted Sandals read through their force majeure/termination clauses, so I did not take action on reading through their agreement myself, and just believed Sandals. We accepted the rebooking in 2021. We rebooked for the same weekend in 2021. Nightmare # 2: Sandals gives us a 30 days notice that Sandals Bahamas will not reopen on time, so we will need to rebook once again. At this time, we didn't want to fight with Sandals anymore, so we just moved our trip to Antigua. Nightmare #3: Antigua closed their beach for the entire time of our stay, for preventions around covid spreads because the island likes to party on the beach during Easter weekend. OK- so, we were not given any preliminary notice. We spoke with the GM, who mentioned that a preliminary "warning" of a potential closure was announced on Tuesday prior to our Friday arrival. Had we known about this potential closure, we would have moved our trip one week. Instead, we were not notified of the beach closure, thus had to spend our trip hanging out in gross chlorine pools. The GM refused to help us get a partial refund. He says the beach closure was a government mandate, thus there is nothing Sandals can do. This is a 1000% incorrect statement because Sandals is not a government run organization. Sandals is a for profit business and can make business decisions of their own, including correcting payments around sub par customer experiences. This was the final straw. Now it is on my to-do list to read through their agreement and get back to the corporate office. The GM kept saying that all of our concerns will need to route to the corporate office, so this makes me question what the GM is even authorized to assist with. There are so many other great resorts on Antigua, I really am not sure what the hype was about Sandals.

The resort grounds are very well kept, everyone was so nice and polite. The restaurants were amazing, my favorite was the sushi place (Kimonos) and my wife's favorite was Marios. Beach was nice and blue and the drinks just kept on coming. We had so much fun we booked our next Sandals trip...to Grenada.

Our trip to Sandals was our anniversary trip. It was great. The staff, the food, and entertainment was exceptional. Due to covid, restaurants rotated there opening, which was fine because we were there a whole week and was able to experience all the restaurants. There are 2 sides of the resort, Caribbean and Mediterranean, we stayed on the carribean and had great view of the ocean and beach, though the room was older we still enjoyed ourselves and the room. The vendors like any other place, they will try to get you to buy something, but it was not annoying as some people might have stated. Its a public beach and they were friendly and just politely say no. We made some new friends and enjoyed the time of relaxation in the room, on the beach, and by the pool. We won a cabana for the day and when we return will get it again a few more times for a minimal cost. The cabana has couch, pool chairs, a table to eat at, a cooler full of water and come products, and comes with butler style service. We were able to get our covid test before we left on the resort which was perfect. We look forward to returning to Sandals Antigua and other Sandals resorts. We have been to 3 so far.
