Hi, We stay for two weeks . From August 29 until September 14.The hotel rooms are ok , I won't say 4 start hotel, but is Cuba need repair and they don't change your bed sheets very often, Or clean. Every day you are going to bed there's sand in the bed. I recommend to bring you own beach towel and lots of mosquitos spray. Also soap for clean your clothes in case you need to wash yours . The staff are incredible nicely, very friendly. The food was really good..but not enough , for example: big lineup for a delicious seafood but after 5 people they didn't have anymore. I did not enjoy the Italian restaurant and neither the Japanese. The normal big every day buffet is the best ... Also the seafood restaurant located at the beach , really good too , but same problem with the seafood, not enough. The entertainment people ? Amazing, amazing, amazing. Great people , lots of talented women and men ...my kids love it ... They stay in the pool playing game with the entertainment guys and girls. My husband and I we stay at the beach knowing that the kids are having a blast and very very safe. we are definitely coming back to playa coco , also great service with the west jet . There is something wrong with the rating think at the top this review I can't mark properly...

First of all this was my 6th time returning to this heavenly Hotel and I am already wishing to go back. I went las march with some friends and we came back with fond memories from our holidays. Perfect beach, the kind you dream of. Staff so friendly you feel like you are part of a family. Most of them speaks English and some French. Front desk staff always willing to help you, bartenders are pros at making drinks. Food was nice for what you can usually expect in Cuba, we didnt starve. Thumb up to the gardeners, they have done an amazing job at recovering the trees and beauty of the Hotel since Irma 2 years ago. Only issue was the beach towels but we managed. The pools were very clean, entertainment was sometimes loudy around the main pool, night shows are fantastic. The new beach restaurant which was an addition this year is the perfect place for lunch, they made excellent pizza over there. We came back recommeding this place for the people who go to Cuba looking for beach, sun and nice people. See you next year Playa Coco...

We arrived March 30, 2019 late evening -6 of us Quiet - Building 8 “ rooms -8304,8309,8310 Emailed resort fee weeks before requested certain buildings - pretty close and arrived with bottle free rum in room -quite nice ?? Rooms where very clean & even pool towels in room... no issues in any rooms for first 3 days - Maid service was pretty good. Read a lot of bad reviews before hand, was kinda scared of what I got myself & family into. But I love Cuba, haven’t been to this part before and I’m always open minded on very trip. But before I start I have to say this hotel isn’t a 4* by far ... 3 days in I wishing I stick with a part of Cuba I have known and been too before. - Rooms.... I must say the maids never get enough said about their hard work and how they do such a wonderful job of cleaning - my room was always cleaned We just brought a can of bug/ roach spray and done all around the doors and placed towel where crack is under the doors We did have issue with our room by day 4 the vent when u come in door up in ceiling was leaking with water for whole day TIL someone came to fix - thought it was fixed then next day it started leaking a where the coffee maker was in the pot light in ceiling for another day - called desk she said she send someone came back no one there, my son slipped on floor from all the water ??... for 2 days we used all the towels fro the bathroom for the floor to soak up water, but the night my son slipped no towels was left clean the day of housekeeping. Hubby called front desk and told them to send someone now my son slipped on floor someone showed up and fixed the problem huge bucket full of water came fro the ceiling when he fixed it But we did notice the tiles in bathroom in shower were opened up so I think they had issues before - but anyways it was ok for that problem after , only issue we had with room and the rooms are fine updated and very very clean. - service ... was so so bad ... the last day we were there was the day we actually had a server come ask if we wanted drinks - everyday they see u and look walk by and not even ask - very very bad service Nothing I ever experienced at any resort ever. - beach was excellent has always - a lot of garbage laying around like empty plastic cups but love Cuba beaches !!!! Sometimes hard to get shade if u didn’t go early and get chairs Beach bar good, nice service and even the bbq they have there was good food and few days one cook came to beach and asked if u wanted some and brought back to you which was awesome but not every one did this that was doing the bbq just the one same guy I seen do it. Food goes fast thro 24 hr snack bar —- good burger and fries but don’t ask for more then 2 plastic cups of fries cause they give u attitudes - the fries were for me and my son not only me!!!!! some drinks also there but not like lobby bar but the service was so bad there also ... we went here for cappuccino every morning with our smaller mugs we brought and they were always so mad when they had to make 2 smaller cappuccinos to fill the cup and don’t get me started on the sugar they get mad when u ask for more then 2 for the cappuccino like they were hiding the sugar ... it was so annoying to ask the same thing everyday and get nasty looks from the workers over a sugar extra packet. The pizza place attached to snack bar on other side was excellent !!! Service was always awesome there I must say ... it’s a must and u can ask for takeout too so if your on beach you can get pizza burgers fries to go always . - Entermainment ... now where should I start with that? — there was none there the whole week I was there , very very sad unfortunately.... very boring made the vacation actually so bad nothing to do !!!! We did hear they all quit the day we came because they didn’t get paid by the resort for 2 mths so totally understandable from their point but when I buy a week get away I assume you always get entertainment I always did anyways. Pools... all good , bigger one u need to go earlier to get shaded area ... small one pretty quiet and not much shad not many chairs either ... only thing they done there was play bingo or dart game at like 4pm ... no activities really - same boring yet again a little music at times then or times no music -Wifi ... cards at front desk $1 peso for hour best wifi where quiet pool is but you can get in lobby and in closest to lobby part of the bigger pool - la a carte....Japanese the bestest!!!! Best meal I had all week. We did the Italian the soup was good and we did the pizza or pasta dishes not bad at all - but I was told some ppl got sick from Italian after they ate it Buffet is a Buffet ... hit and miss - some days good others not so good bread always good ice cream great ... let’s just say I’m not a picky eater and I didn’t starve either... it was just ok ... and the service was not so good in there either up till last couple days there it got alitltle better. Heard the staff was told all over the resort about complaints from guest of how the service was so poor everywhere and for one day there was excellent service everywhere it seem and seen there was management everywhere watching all the workers all that day ... but next day no management and workers when back to there ole ways ... poor service again Flies were bad , early morning and late evening ... no matter how much I used bug spray I got eaten !!! Couldn’t go to beach at sunset - billions of black mosquito all over !!!! I’m not a traveller that expects much when I vacation ... I loveCuba always have always well and just because this resort sucked , mostly in SERVICE.. it still wouldn’t make me to not come back some other resort or other part just not this resort ever again They certainly need to change there star rating for sure... the repeat travellers love it there cause they get the service first before anyone other traveller so why wouldn’t they boast about it ?? Cayo Coco I’ve seen, not my part I enjoy. I do want to see Holguin still , ive heard many great things about that part from diff travellers ... I love cayo Santa Maria , been to Santiago de Cuba it was ok but I really love Varadero ... I just booked a June trip now to go back ???????????????? see I do love Cuba !!! the mosquito are to many there in Cayo Coco for my Likening and they seem to love my blood I think ?? so I’ll pass but we did see many other great resorts in Cayo Coco along our bus ride and I should tell you the resort next door to hotel playa coco is called Memories Caribe , sounded fun everyday and night no boring going on there - sad we hear and say we should’ve went there ???????? This is true views from a traveller that wanted to say Cayo Coco was the place didn’t turn out that way sadly ... neither did this resort What I say if your a new comer and want service at least half and a show to watch at night and staff that smiles at u -to make a vacation nice Don’t choose this one resort , pay the little extra and go to another resort ... the will be worth it This all coming from a average travellers “””””who loves CUBA ????”””””””and aren’t 5+ star people either by the way Our opinions, and opinions of others also ????CUBA ???? #1 By the way ... THEY MAKE AWESOME DRINKS AT THE LOBBY AND POOLS !!!! One thing I can give this resort credit for ????????

Awesome beach, friendly staff...will definetely return!!...

I went to Hotel Playa Coco first week of april and enjoyed so much and my family and i are already planning to book for next year. Beach was stunningly beautiful, the best I have seen in Cuba so far. Crystal clear water with lots of palapas so you dont have to wake up early and save a spot. The staff everywhere makes you feel like royalty, bartenders, front desk ladies and the gardeners always say hi with a smile on their faces. Plenty options for colorful cocktails and drinks. The food was very nicely decorated and very tasty. Buffet for breakfast, new pizza place for lunch are the best options. The a la cartes are definetely a must, TRY THE JAPANESE! You wont regret it. My roommaid did a great job and decorating our room everyday. We had an ocean view on building 4 with a nicely new renovated walk in shower, it was a good updated. I found toilet paper and soup every time i went to the bathrooms. Overall we had a great time, my kids had so much fun so we are definetely coming back next year for another round. Highly recommended!!

    Solid 3.5 but definitly not a 4

We chose this resort due to its location close to airport. Arrived with Transat. All good with them. Check in smooth and we were satisfied with our ocean view room and its location (4310). Only glitches was TV fuzzy for most of our stay and shower water temperature only warm however we did have hot water on two occasions. There is a musty odor but we had brought an air freshener along that helped. Beach towels were in room however we needed to keep them for our entire two weeks. Bath towels were changed when we requested and sheets were changed regularly throughout our stay. Food was not varied and became repeatative but there was always something to put together with a little imagination. A more varied fresh fruit section would have been a plus but there was always nice sweet section. Expect flys at dusk and at dawn but once the sun and wind kick in there was no problem. Be reminded there are renovations going on however impact is minimal on clients. Those looking for a "ZEN" experience might want to avoid this resort as music on beach loud and evening entertainment music resonates throughout to the point of vibrating you out of your bed! Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay and we would recomend to anyone that could find a good deal if they can live with some minor irritants.

First, I have always taken poor reviews with a grain of salt because people will ALWAYS find something to complain about. But, before booking with this hotel PLEASE pay attention to the poor reviews so you are not disappointed - I've come to realize that they aren't exaggerated and this place is terrible). We booked this "resort" because it was reasonably priced and we had not been to Cuba before (Mexico, Costa Rica, Cook Islands, Hawaii previous to this) and our opinion was that we weren't going for the resort but for the beach (of which this one was beautiful but also has a crazy amount of sand fleas that will eat you alive). I had read managements responses to bad reviews about how it is still recovering from Hurricane Irma but how is it that this hotel is the only along one along the Cayo Coco coastline that hasn't made any gains since then? First, this AI looks bleak and unkept from the moment you get off your airport transfer and enter the lobby. I had to use the washroom and one of the toilets was without a seat and no stalls had any toilet paper. You would think that, even for the sake of appearances, the lobby (as it's every traveler's first impression of the resort) would be upkept - but not this one. The receptionists are disorganized and unfriendly and don't speak English. Front desk staff should have a fairly decent grasp of English/French otherwise they aren't capable of understanding or being helpful. This resort lacks foliage to make it beautiful. If you like greenery and palm trees and such, this place is not the one for you. The Rooms: we traveled with 6 people and arrived after 4pm and the rooms weren't ready. We were the only people who arrived, at this time, and were the only ones in the lineup but check-in still took an hour! My husband and I were given room 6202 (AVOID THIS ONE AT ALL COSTS). He has asthma and the moment we entered the room we were accosted by the smell of mold. Not the usual damp, musty smell of humid climates but breath-stealing stank of LOTS of mold. The bathroom was covered in black mold! As was the bedroom lamps and furniture. We went back to reception to ask them for a room change before my husband suffered an asthma attack. They said no and said to come back at 9am the next day to check and see if they had anything available. We returned the next morning and they still said no. We tried explaining how our night went - husband attached to his puffers, blankets reeking of mold and mildew, toilet flooding the floor around the base at every flush (we had to wrap towels around it to stop it from flooding the whole floor), etc. The receptionist looked at us as if we were from a different planet and had ZERO empathy and did not even try to accommodate us - not even for medical reasons. I asked her to PLEASE send someone to the room to at least bleach the room and spray the walls with it and to please exchange the blankets for fresh ones as they were moldy and one had a large blood stain on it that could only have come from mensuration; she nodded (but I am entirely unsure if she understood a word I said or was playing dumb). Our maid came and went - we tipped her money and a package of things (we made up packages of kids toothpaste, brushes, sanitary items, first-aid items, hair elastics, deodorant, etc to give to the workers) and she did a nice job but the blankets weren't exchanged for clean ones and no bleach was used. At this time we knew we couldn't spend another night in the room, due to breathing issues, and we spoke to our Sunwing rep who had us moved to a different resort (and that was AMAZING!!!). Staff: I think that they work hard and are under appreciated by management. The servers at the lobby bar were the most unfriendly of the bunch but the grounds workers, quiet pool bartenders, and buffet staff were very sweet. The lobby staff need lessons in hospitality and the languages most used by their clientele. I showed them a picture of the women's washroom by the quiet pool (by the way, all the pools are quiet as there is no entertainment staff there). It was disgusting as someone had exploded in there and needed a clean. She looked at the picture and dismissed me. The Food: Everyone hears that the food in Cuba is bland and we were prepared for that - we brought spices and hot sauce and the things we enjoy to flavour our food. The buffet was lukewarm at best, flies were all over everything. The only real edible food was the bread. It was the first time, on vacation, that I believed I would actually lose weight! I'm not a picky eater but be prepared that they don't have salad dressings for their salads, the meat is fibrous and can't be chewed - even the chicken. I was concerned that the temperature of the food wasn't warm enough to keep bacteria from flourishing - especially with all the flies on everything. The buffet is also quite small with very little variety to choose from. If your were travelling with kids feeding them would be nearly impossible - as I saw several families struggling with this issue. The Beach: The water is wonderful. I do wonder why they struggle with sand fleas when the resort we ended up at (2km's up the road) had none. To the left there is a little reef that has thousands of fish! That was wonderful. We even saw a little stingray and 2 barracudas. The best part about this resort, I'm sad to say, was leaving it. After we changed resorts we had the most amazing time. My feeling is that this resort has been so poorly managed that it is losing money and does not have the resources to keep it up.
