just the fact, December 2nd, 2020, covid

just returned to Toronto after a week at Brisas, flew with Transat , no one in middle seats, masks on all the time. Covid throat test on arrival in Holguin, took 10 seconds, notified the next day we were all negative on the plane ( except one who was not staying there and was already transferred to the military hospital. Strick protocol at Brisas, masks on all the time unless sitting at a table eating/drinking, masks on when walking around, buffet open but employees serve you, al la carte open, snack bar.....no direct access to the bar, you stay 4 feet away and a waiter transfer your drinks from the bar to you, shows everynight, all employees wear masks all the time from maids to front desk and gardiners, hope this help making the hard decision to go or wait, i am now quarantined for 14 days at home, it would be hard for people working as a one week vacation turns into a 3 week, sanitary measures were in place and respected by most, questions ? ask away, dgalarne@hotmail.com
Back after 8 months

We return in November 03 in Brisas after 8 months. Still one of the best resorts in Cuba. It is a little bit different than before pandemic starts but everyone are doing their best to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. I like because since i came in the country they test and retest us to make sure everybody are Covid free and i am feeling here very safe . The food, sevice, cleanig, entertainment still good, even the hotel is only 30% occupied. Every night live bands are singing in different places, shows...beach beautiful like always and the pools well maintained. If i am starting to put names for the peoples which made our vacation special i might need 3 pages but i just want to point few: Dani,Ara,Maryfrom El Guayabero,Dani,Cesar,Sheila,Argel,Amelia,Sonia,Yasmani,Maria,Arasay,Arnoldo,Norge, Yudi....

First long haul with Thomas Cook x upgraded to premium...in our opinion not a good choice we have been on a Tui premium and no comparison ..thomas also managed to mess up 4 pre booked seats after they had been reserved nearly a year before..resulting in utter shambles. The villa was lovely x clean x lots of space After arriving we went to room x unpacked I had a shower..went to get out and ahhh no hand rail..slipped and hit my head on the floor..knocked myself out.. holiday went down really from there.. Food was not too bad Service was lovey x very helpful Beach was stunning Thomas Cook went into administration the day before we were due to fly home.. Cuban goverment was trying to get everyone to pay the hotel costs due to no payment by Thomas Cook.. Eventually arrived back in Gatwick 6 hours later than due. Still suffering from nerve damage from head bump but hey ho
Great in all respects

This resort is great in all respects. The villas are definitely the way to go -- clean, spacious, and quiet. The multiple pools and beach are easily accessible with shady and sunny spots to pick from. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There are lots of restaurants to choose from with a decent variety of food options. The games room and nightly entertainment both provided much enjoyment, as did the souvenir a few minutes walk from the resort. You can convert your Canadian dollars into CUC at the front desk. We can't wait to go back!
Brisas Hotel guard grabbed my arm forcibly
Reviewed by globaltraveler2021(Toronto, Canada) on Jun 05, 2020
I realize the hotel guards have an extremely boring, tiresome job, making very little money per day (a dollar a day might be generous). The incident occurred last year after I had been next door on the beach in Club Amigo around 8 pm. Earlier in the day I had visited a small town called "Cayuelo" which is probably a twenty minute walk or five minutes by cab. As I entered the back gate of Hotel Brisas , I jokingly said to the guard ""where is Cayuelo" and he grabbed forcibly my arm. I assume he did not see my armband showing I was a guest of Brisas. I am a senior and the pain from the "arm grab "made my holiday uncomfortable with daily constant pain. I did mention this to"customer service" and besides their apology very little happened. I hope in future things improve with the guards at the hotel.
