Good location to restaurants, shops, and the beach

The location, for our purposes, was good. It was close to so many restaurants within walking distance. The pool was nice and I enjoyed it a couple of times. The room was fine, but for a long stay (2 weeks) it wasn't comfortable because there was nowhere to put clothes. There is no dresser or shelves within the closet, so I hung up what I could/needed to and had to leave the rest of my folded clothes in my suitcase. Further, there was no light in the closet or near the closet, so it made it difficult to see. (I provided this information to Hilton when they sent a request for feedback post-stay.) The shower was large with good water pressure, the bed was comfortable, and I found the store at the ground level useful for laundry detergent, etc.

The hotel is a no frills in a good location in relation to the beach and night life. The rooms were clean, with an obstructed view of the water. We were there for a half marathon race, which was convenient. The store in the lobby was great to pick up snacks and small items. The staff hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

This hotel is fantastic....just a short walk through the International marketplace....about a block......and you are on the beach. Much quieter than the beach......but you can be there in minutes by foot for the shows. We walked to the Hula show on the Mound.....about 4 minutes.....got to watch 2 year olds dance the hula to their own beat....and direction....really cute.

We've stayed here before and find it has a great location off the beach, clean rooms, very comfy beds, nice room layout, lots to like about it. This trip wasn't so good. We booked 2 rooms months in advance and requested they be close together. Unfortunately they were not close to each other. One had a city view while the other had a nice balcony overlooking a parking lot and other tall buildings. We had not noticed these views on previous stays since our views had been outward. Since we really had no interest in sitting on the balcony looking at the parking lot we requested a change in room - one closer to our other room. We were told there were no other rooms available until the next day. We agreed to move the next day and were told we had to "check out" at noon and wait for our room to be ready around 3:00pm. Meaning we would be without a room between noon and 3pm. The next day we went to ask about staying in the room until the new room was ready and the person at the desk easily said of course. Not the same message we got from the day before. We moved to the new room and were shocked to see a note in the room saying our water would be turned off the next day between 9:00am and 5:00pm! We again called to request a new room that would have running water. The manager was extremely nice and helpful and found us a room on a lower floor since the water was to be turned off between the 10th and 20th floor! Imagine all those rooms with no water during the day while you are trying to enjoy your Hawaiian vacation. Not sure what to think about this hotel going forward. Lots to like but this trip really was a huge disappointment. Too much vacation time on the phone with the front desk and moving suitcases from room to room to room.

    You’ll pay a resort fee!!

Recently stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki. It’s a stand alone hotel with a pool, pool bar, and cafe in the lobby. Nice, but nothing special. Near the International Market Place but a couple of blocks from the beach. My issue is that they charge a Resort Fee of $28 per room per night. The Hilton Garden Inn is not (repeat NOT) a resort in any way!! Hilton is praying on you for your vacation dollars while not offering anything resort-like in return. You’ll also pay $42 a day for parking. That’s more than you probably paid for a modest rental car per day. You are paying $70 on top of your room rate per day for a resort fee and parking. So factor that in to your planning if you decide to book at any of the Waikiki Hilton properties. The resort fees and parking are even higher at the other Waikiki Hilton’s. Are you a Hilton Honors member? Great, you get a fabulous two bottles of water at check-in. Really too much!! (not). Just an FYI, I complained to the Desk Clerk about the Resort Fee and he admitted there was really no reason for the Resort Fee and removed it from my bill !! So they (Hilton) know they are gouging their guests. If you are planning to stay a few days, you’ll be living out of your suitcase because some of the rooms don’t have a dresser or drawers to put away your clothing and personal items. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper, but with good reason.
