My boyfriend and I spent one night here at the Holiday Inn Express Waikiki. Lobby is open air and had been remodeled so it looked chic and modern. Front desk staff were all very nice. A big Mahalo to Rosemaria and Bea who were so friendly it almost felt as we were family. They were genuinely nice and embraced true Aloha. I was aware of the parking being so limited, but I never encountered any issues with finding any even though we arrived late maybe around 8pm on a Friday night. The complementary breakfast was okay. It wasn't super crowded, we were able to find a table outside which was nice since it was quiet. The room is small. We reserved a king room. But being it was just the 2 of us, the space was adequate. I don't know what everyone is talking about the A/C being so loud. Its just like any other wall mounted A/C unit. Granted it did blow on you, but you could always adjust it to where it would blow away or just simply turn it off and open the window and enjoy the cool trade winds Hawaii offers. We did have a city a view which was nice. The hotel doesn't offer any lanais to sit on. We really enjoyed our stay here. When we return to Oahu, this is will be our place of choice to stay at. Mahalo, Holiday Inn Express Waikiki!

We stayed here for our honeymoon in Waikiki and from start to finish the hotel, ameneties and staff were amazing. When you check in you will even receive gummy pineapples and cookies as a welcome! We had a slight error with our room when we checked in but after contacting hotel management the issue was swiftly resolved to our content - the hotel absolved themselves. Staff are really fantastic. The rest of the stay was fab - hotel breakfast is amazing, you won’t want lunch (omelettes, White egg bites, sausage, turkey patties, boiled eggs, biscuits, bagels, yogurt, cereals, fruit, juice, pancakes, coffee, cinnamon rolls, toast and spreads). There's a full compliment TV and strong wifi throughout. The pool area was always clean and had facilities around it like mini golf and games. The hotel dispense towels at the pool area so don’t bring your own. The only downer about the pool is that the hotel shadows it after a certain time, and it’s a bit on the smaller side - but all hotels in Waikiki seem to have smaller pools (size restrictions?) ... but anyway you’re at the one of the most amazing beaches in the world so why hang at the pool? The only one thing about this hotel was bothered me was the fact the windows can fully open even on the 41st floor - and I mean fully. You can walk to the nearest beach in 10 mins or less. Waikiki area more around 15-20 minutes away and a bit confusing to get to without walking through the beaches. Activities - If you’re interested in pearl harbour, get the public bus from across the bridge as it’s only $5.50 return. This bus also goes outside Ioalani Palace. You can also do Diamond Head this way but opposite, we did and it was amazing. Food wise there’s so much choice, I recommend - Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ which was absolutely incredible. Target is about 1 mile walk away but ABC stores are not much more expensive. Location wise this place is good

The regular rooms are small but the upper floor ocean view rooms have an unrestricted view over a park towards the ocean. The pink Royal Hawaiian is visible off to the left, with surfers always out in the ocean. A convenient tour bus pickup is across the street at the hotel La Croix. It may be October but thank goodness the air conditioning works. Large breakfast area for the many guests, including outdoor seating. Standard Holiday inn Express menu but 3 lines and several toasters and hot cakes cookers makes the wait minimal. 5-6 block walk to the beach, but we were more interested in seeing the other island sights on this visit.

    Great location clean and affordable.

This is the only IHG hotel in Waikiki. I had not stayed at the ‘Express’ brand before and I have to say although it was clean, central and the staff were very friendly, I am surprised in a resort spot like Waikiki they don’t have more alternatives. Location is good, good views of the sea, standard breakfast with quite a raNge of food to choose from. The biggest downside is the pool, which is very small, plus being ‘express’ there’s no bar or restaurant. However, these are all in walking distance of the property. There are laundry facilities on site plus a bus stop across the road which is handy for the mall and other tourist sites. Also the age of the property means the Aircon is the old in window style which is like having and A380 in the room with you.

The scenery pretty much says it all about the location; now on to Holiday Inn Express: the price is a bit higher than mainland, but that is to be expected around here. The service is good, but they are on the stingy side with toilet paper, kleenex, and they would not give me a glass to take to my room for my 12 yrs old single-malt scotch, they offered paper cup! Yuck! I had to go buy glasses, luckily there are many stores in less than a mile radius. The rooms are clean but small (think Japan) and in the morning, one must get up and go downstairs (no room service except Doordash) the coffee and meals available in their school style cafeteria, leaves something to be desired. The beach is within 8-10 min walking distance and if you are on a budget, buy your meals at the local 7-11, they are actually healthily prepared meals (next to the cashier) of local and filipino style foods for less than $8, only 7-10 min walk from the hotel. I hope this helps. Gabriel C. Doe Jr.
