This was our third stay at the Sheraton and had another terrific experience. It had been a few years between stays and reading many of the recent, negative posts I was a bit nervous about staying here. However, quickly upon arrival any nervousness was quickly squashed. Yes the lobby area is under construction but it didn't bother us. Once we checked in we never had any need to go back to the lobby so any construction didn't bother us. We requested and received the same room in building five from our previous visit. It was very clean and spacious for our family of four. That area of the resort is very quiet and peaceful. Housekeeping did a great job each and every day. The pool area was great. We never had a problem securing chairs but we were also down there each morning between 7am-8am. The pool staff was friendly and attentive to any of our needs. Dining wise we did take advantage of the breakfast buffet just about each morning. The food was great. The Cliff Dive bar staff was friendly and the drinks and food were also great. No complaints here. Overall just another great stay at the Sheraton. We hope to have the opportunity to visit again in the future.

Great location, but construction hampered what could be a great propery

The short of it is that while the location of the Sheraton Maui (near Black rock) was great, the construction seriously impacted the quality of our stay. We were not aware of the impending construction when we booked, and in fact we avoided booking at the Westin because there was supposed to be construction. The construction closed down one of the restaurants, shifted schedules for others and ultimately reduced the total available space. The lobby, which was moved to near the conference space, was at first difficult to find. And part way through the stay, a conference was hosted in the space of the temporary lobby, making it a hassle to dodge areas restricted for conference attendees as we were returning to our room or going to the beach. The tote bags which were included in the resort fee needed to be retrieved from the time share desk, which was clearly an attempt to direct more guests to the time share desk if they wanted to get what they paid for. The most positive aspect of the stay was the Dinner Under the Stars that my wife and I did, and had a beachfront dinner at sunset and both the food and service was great. This hotel might be great when it is fully refurbished and up and running, but while it is under construction I would look elsewhere, particularly at the Hyatt down the beach

We stayed at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa in late September / early October 2019. We originally had booked the Westin (for the pool complex), but due to some massive renovations we switched at the last minute. •The location of the hotel is really pretty fantastic. It’s right on the beautiful Kaanapali Beach and along Black Rock. The beach area is very nice and we swam there every day. Black Rock kind of provides a break to where the water is pretty calm and safe for swimming. We snorkeled here too. No reason to go on a snorkeling excursion. There is good snorkeling right out the door. Rent (or buy at a store when there) some snorkel gear and head out there when convenient to you. We snorkeled in the early morning (say 8:00 AM) when less people were there. We saw plenty of fish and a family of sea turtles every morning. It was fantastic. Also, jump off of Black Rock, its fun! •The resort itself is nice, clean and well up kept. Our room (2508) provided some good views of the property, beach / ocean and Black Rock. The room itself was very nicely renovated, clean and spacious. The bed was super comfortable. Our patio was also very large and served us well each morning as we enjoyed our coffee watching the sunrise. We were very happy with our room (an Ocean View King). •We ate at the two more casual options on property: Cliff Dive Grill and Mai Tai Bar. Both met our needs when we wanted a quick casual meal without going off property and changing out of our swimsuits. I reviewed those both separately, if interested. •The pool complex was also very nice. It too was super clean and never seemed over crowded. We had no problem getting chairs no matter what time we came. The lazy river was enjoyable and they even provide floating bean bags to make your way lazily around. We met lots of good people and had some good conversations on our pool days with other guests. Also, they have refillable water stations you can fill scattered among the property. That was nice / helpful. •The service at the hotel was good. Not amazing. In fact, that was the only ding I would give the property and why I don’t give it five stars. We did not get the aloha spirit from most staff we interacted with. No one greeted us when we pulled up, no leis were given and no real Hawaii welcome at all (as an example) Again, service was not bad, but compared to other properties I have stayed at in Hawaii, it was for sure lacking in comparison. •The hotel is currently undergoing some minor renovations in the lobby and restaurant area. There is a temporary check / in lobby area and there was some noise during the day during the week, but nothing horrible. And all the pool facilities were fully available (which is what we cared about). I believe their nicer restaurant (Rock Salt) is the one that was under renovations. So, if you are interested in that, I would just inquire about it. •Side note: I have to mention that if you get a message / call from vacation services asking you to come down and get your welcome gift, be prepared. I had no idea what I was walking into, but it was a pitch to get you to do a timeshare presentation. Not what I wanted to deal with after a 10-hour flight and just wanting to get a drink and bite to eat. So I would absolutely recommend this hotel if considering it for your stay in Maui. I think it had the best location of any resort on Kaanapali Beach and helped make our trip to Maui a memorable one.

We had a fabulous time at this property. It is right on the beach with easy access to snorkeling, beach and pool! Our room was lovely and we had good ocean views( we did book ocean view) so were satisfied. Bring a water bottle as they have filtered water available. Also, they even provide a dispenser with sunscreen! Poolside food and drink service a plus! The breakfast buffet was terrific and we never had to wait to be seated. I was a bit worried about the construction but it was not a problem at all. We stayed a week and I never heard it, even from the pool area. Shuttle takes you to downtown Lahaina and hotel is an easy walk to Whalers Village. Plenty of lounge chairs at pool, but if you want shade best to reserve your spot early! We had great service from all areas and overall I was very pleased with this property- location is awesome!

Very dissatisfied!! Hotel under construction, no place to eat or drink after 9 pm,even on a Friday night. Breakfast Buffet-20 minute wait and no other options for breakfast. The best yet. Came back to the room after the pool for 3 hours found door wedged wide open, not sure how long it had been this way. Asked Paul the manager for help, was somewhat dismissive, I will look into this for you and comp you 150 $ . Will never stay here again!!!
