We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo (10B) for 10 days! We also stayed in the next condo (11A) last year which drew us back. If you’re looking for r & r this is the spot or if you love to golf with a spectacular view, this is it! This is a gated community & we felt very secure. The condo was clean, filled with amenities. All you need is a quick trip to the grocery store or farmer’s market. The property manager, Shayden I believe, was very friendly & was knowledgeable. Lots of great restaurants in Waikoloa. Kona & the airport are only a short drive away. This is an amazing island! We’ll be back. Aloha & A Hui Kakou

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Hali'i Kai. The location is tough to beat, it is basically right on the ocean! Our main issue with the place was the cleaning - upon checking into our condo we found some really gross garbage (in the recycling bin!) under the kitchen sink. It looks like it had been there for days, smelled terrible. Masterbath room had hair all over the shower floor. Underneath the couches in the living room we found (actually our baby found) all kinds of garbage and old food. Most of the 2 bedroom condo was pretty clean but what is mentioned above was a bad first impression. The condo did have nice A/C, fully stocked kitchen with newer appliances, mostly carpet and a nice view off of the back porch. Overall Halii Kai feels a bit outdated compared to other resorts next door such as Fairway Villas and Kings Land. The pool area is nice, but again feels outdated and could be a lot cleaner. Sunset views from the pool area are tough to beat! Food at the restaurant was surprisingly good for a resort. We had fish and chips, sliders, prime rib, veggie curry all really good! BEST part of the pool area is the bartender Kathy, super friendly and just a pleasure to be around!! Other 2 stars would be been given if the place was cleaner overall and if things like the pool furniture and our BBQ on the back porch were not so outdated. Lastly, great place for families - we felt very safe with our kids there! Also no beach super close by but we knew that when we rented the condo.

We stayed in apartment 1C. Everything you could need in a holiday apartment is right here. It is spacious, peaceful and conveniently located close to reception and the gateway. We are happy to recommend this venue.

We had 7 nights here. Family of 4. Gated community felt safe but 'condo land' was the name we gave it. Not really the real feel of Hawaii we were hoping for. The pool area is lovely but the pool is very shallow and small. Very quiet isolated place, had to drive everywhere. The room we had was close to the pool but it was dark and gloomy, heavy furnishings and curtains....had to put lights on during the day. We couldn't wait to get out each morning. The TV was hard to work out and we had to get assistance. Would have helped if there was a note in the apartment for how to use it. Wouldn't come back here again.

3rd time renting here; it's that good!

This was our 3rd time at Halii Kai. We stayed in 10E - ground floor, 3 bedroom unit. I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of bugs in the unit; they must do some serious insect repellents! I've always stayed in 2nd floor units because of potential bugs. Not going to worry about that anymore. This was another fabulous stay at Halii Kai. This was our first time with a 3 bdrm unit; we didn't book the 2 story 3bdrm unit. The living room was a bit tighter, but the 3 rooms were great. The two teens got their own space, though their windows faced the east so they got the morning sun. We had ocean view from the lanai, and plenty of light from through the side windows. Kitchen was amazingly equipped. Henckel knives, Riedel wine glasses, plenty of spices. The coffee cups were good sized. There was coffee grinder and maker, blender, toaster, rice cooker, tons of dishes, bowls, pitchers, even a salad spinner! I really appreciated the supplied basics: laundry soap, bath bar soap, hand soap, dish soap, and toilet paper and paper towels. Plenty of bath towels, even cosmetic face wash cloths. There were 8 beach towels in the unit. We couldn't park in the garage, but we had access to its contents: 4 Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrella, plus 4 boogie boards. We left the 4 boogie boards and pool noodles we had bought earlier there in the garage. Also had tennis rackets and balls. There were also ice packs in the freezer for the cooler. I'll leave a review for the unit under VRBO, which we rented through. It's always a question if a place is as good as you remember. Halii Kai delivers. The complex is quiet. Part of the Waikoloa resort but separate; I think the Hilton golf course gives it a more airy feel. The Ocean Club is amazing. My kids (now 17 and 14) still enjoy the pool. Yes, it's a bit annoying that they can't throw balls or do major horseplay, but did they have fun - yes. Lots of marco polo. Kids met many other kids and hung out with them at the pool. The place is soooo friendly. We chatted with other guests and some owners. Very nice. The staff at the Ocean Club are great. I can't believe it's the same people who've been there since our first trip, and it speaks volumes to the quality of the establishment. Saphyre and Kathy are very nice and remember everyone. Daniel is the new bartender, and we had great conversations with him. Pool towels provided as is lemon water. Happy hour is 2-5:30pm. The staff make great virgin drinks, so my kids loved the virgin passionfruit daiquiris. The complex has tennis and basketball courts; you can check out the equipment at the front desk if needed. It fronts the ocean and the lava-rock Kings Trail; we took it over to the Black Sand beach. You don't have direct beach access from this complex, but you drive to the best beaches anyway (Hapuna, Mauna Kea). A-Bay is nice for snorkeling and okay for swimming, and has parking lot by LavaLava beach club -just a mile away. Now, I stayed 2 wks this trip to Hawaii. First week at Kolea, and 2nd week here at Halii Kai. Kolea was nice, but, hands-down, I prefer Halii Kai. I'm hoping to be back sooner than 3 years this time!
