Because this was part of a timeshare visit you would think that the room would be fabulous—not. I was scared to sleep due to bugs, I know I’m in a jungle, however spray the rooms. The staff were friendly and I got to see a red moon. The Spa was nice.

I stayed here with my mom. We booked our hotel as part of a travel presentation obligation. After reading the reviews i was very skeptical but i was already locked in. I corresponded with the reservations team to address the concerns I’d read online and they were quick to answer any questions. The staff were all pretty friendly and helpful. My favorite were Desiret at the concierge counter, Christian/Gabriel our driver for our beach tour, and Michael at the bar. They all provided excellent customer service! Now to address the rumors: -The place IS on a hill with steep inclines so I wouldn’t recommend walking. The shuttles run continuously so getting to the beach and other things on the property is no problem. -The buffet is open but not crawling with bugs. I did see a few gnats around the fruit but nothing excessive. I never saw them actually on the food, just in the area as to be expected with outdoor dining. -There are stray cats (we only saw 3) but they are not aggressive or bothersome. They just hang out and do their own thing. Don’t feed them! -They are strict about their towels. Like they literally ration them out. Two guests in your room? You get exactly two towels. -The hotel charges about $40-50 for the same tour you can book elsewhere. In my opinion it’s worth it. We booked the Beach Lovers Tour and the Diamanté Adventure Tour and each day we had a private driver just for us. He stayed the entire time, was our professional photographer, and our tour guide. I’d say it’s worth the few extra dollars for peace of mind especially being in another country. -The place is dated, I can say this is true for the hotel. But it does have a few modern touches. It’s nothing fancy at all about it but it’s clean and well kept. I’m not sure what the resort or villas look like. The walls are very thin all around. i could hear the neighbors tv and the person above me when they walked or slid a chair. -There’s literally nothing nearby but the shuttle will take you to nearby areas. -Both pools were open and in full party mode! All in all, i was expecting ‘very bad’ and i got ‘pretty decent’. It’s about a 3 star in my view but with little competition in the area they can market themselves however they want. I would recommend ????

    Sunset Cruise was spectacular

We didn't stay at the resort, but instead went there for their sunset cruise on the sailboat. They shuttled us down to the beach where we took the sailboat from. It had a bathroom and changing room on board the boat. They served us sandwiches, chips, and fresh fruit. It was a beautiful experience that we would do again and highly recommend. The customer service from start to finish was well worth the $65 per person plus tips we gave the staff. The cruise included a stop at a beautiful beach where we snorkeled with manta rays, and saw beautiful fish. At the beach there were also monkeys in the wild.

We spent a week at Villa Sol as part of a scuba diving package. From the moment we arrived until we sadly departed we were impressed with every aspect of this superbly managed resort. You will be also and I hope you choose to stay here. The photos that follow tell the story better than words

I booked this place to celebrate my wife's birthday. Let me share the experience with you all. The main receptionists are friendly. The hotel has shuttles that take you to the hotel or villas, the rooms are nice and clean, the villages some have their own mini pool and come equiped with kitchen so you can cook your own fresh sea food, everything is good so far. Then the nightmare, we went to the hotel's restaurant(all you can eat) for dinner, we were super hungry, but to our bad luck we found more than good costarican food, we found hundreds of flies all over the food, the salads, the deserts, bread, drinks, over you, over the waiters. We couldn't believe it, we reached out to the waiters captain about it and he replied -Well it is hard to control, but is ok nothing will happen- Whaat? Nothing will happen?, I mean everyone involved with that restaurant should get a fine for insalubrity, it seems they don't know that flies transmit deceases like cholera, dysentery, gastroenteritis, salmonellosis, even tuberculosis, just to call some of them. Well we couldn't eat. Drinks were awful too, just cheap alcohol, disappointing. Food and beverages quality get 0 stars. We rank 3, because the rooms with view to the sea and sunset, beach is beautiful, don't buy anything from the people outside the beach they just take advantage of foreigners charging overprized tours. I do not recommend this hotel, villages are a good option if you are going. Just do not take the hotel's all inclusive.
