Our third trip here. We keep trying not be impressed. Room is big, 3 things broken, beautiful view. All restaurants are ridiculously over priced. Not to mention 12% tax and even walk up counters for food add 15% tip. Food is poor to ok at best. Today took the prize! A large group of men and women, 3 men wearing ankle bracelets, at the Mayan pool fighting, swearing. Security had already been over twice before it got physical the third time. They were drinking out of large glass bottles, a man pushed a woman twice. It was a scene. Security comes over, speaks to them, fist bumps them and leaves. They all disperse to the pool. My family, not feeling safe in the area packed up and moved. All the places we’ve been, security working hard... here hardly working. Lifeguards sleeping at their post. Staff is unfriendly and put out when asked a question. Beautiful piece of property, but that’s all folks. Go somewhere else where the money you spend is appreciated.

They will and do make it right!

Can't say enough great good and excellent things about this place. I love staying here and keep coming back. So much to do 4 days isn't enough. I wish I lived here. Front desk manager really took care of us. Good food great beach and wonderful waterslide for the kids and casino for the adults. Very friendly staff. We are planning our next return as soon as I get more time off work. LOL

I don't know if it was the threat of more hurricanes and rain, or if it is like this every October, but if you want a great place to stay, with quite beaches, only 12 people in the pool (seriously, 12 people at noon on Saturday) and quite rooms, then please take this as my personal recommendation to visit The Reef at Atlantis. If you don't mind walking, it is about 10 or 15 minutes to all of the main action, restaurants, casinos through covered walkways, or for those really taking it easy a shuttle runs between hotels about every 10 or 15 minutes. Staff, facilities, and grounds are all world class. 100% recommendation.

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about?! We had a wonderful stay at The Reef at Atlantis. Great weather, pools, slides and grounds were beautifully maintained. Marine life are all around the grounds;stingrays, turtles, sharks, dolphins! Food options were great, so much to do and see. Our room at The Reef was spacious, very clean and modern. Gorgeous view of the beach and pool. Equipt with fridge, dishwasher, cooking area and microwave. (This is not a budget destination, you will spend money, if you are looking for budget go elsewhere. I think it was worth every penny) Marina Village is good for casual fare at night, during the day visit the poolside snack bars for lunches. We stopped on the way at a grocery for breakfast items. Free Starbucks coffee in the rooms (Keurg coffee maker). Atlantis shuttle makes it easy to explore the whole complex. We had a fantastic time!
