Booked for one night in a double room. The check-in was the worst I've ever experienced. Checked in at 9:20am (room not available) waited 20 minutes in line. Checked in again at 2:20pm (room not available) waited 40 minutes in line. Checked in at 3:15 ( room not available, check-in is at 3:00) waited 50 minutes in line. Had to wait till 4:45 to get a room after I cut the line. I was not going to wait another hour. The lobby was filled with guests waiting for a room and the line was out the door. Booked through Hotels.com and it stated I would get free WIFI ($14.99/day), they say its only available to Hilton honor guests. The room itself was underwhelming and small. It had a musty/old smell. It was screaming for renovation, old chipped furniture and peeling chair. The thermometer was set at 74 and you can't change it and the room was very stuffy and warm. There was rust on the bathroom door hinges and the entire room got very humid once you took a shower. The toilet did not flush and the shower head needs to be replaced its so old. They also added $40/day for incidentals which they say they will take off a few days after the charge goes through. No, I will not stay here again.

As a Hilton vacation club member, I have experienced different Hilton locations around the world, I have to give front end supervisor, Swapwa a very special recognition. She went above and beyond to make our experience even better. By far the best level of service we have received. From the warm greetings upon entrance, to attentive service, we cannot speak favorably enough about the staff at this hotel. Thank you for making our stay extra special. - Thalia & Anil

    Hot and Noisy

First, kudos to the nice and welcoming staff and my room was clean and well prepared. The problem is this hotel is in major need of renovations. It has a central heating /cooling thing going on, so if the heat is on - you can only make it hotter. If you’re someone who needs your own climate control then this is definitely not the place for you . The room and hotel was set at 75 and that is just way too hot for me. Second, the hotel is old and sparsely decorated and incredibly thin walls, you can hear everyone, each step outside , every conversation and even the elevators (and my room was not very close ). Last, the problem is it’s not a retro design, it is an actual mid century modern building and rooms have narrow windows, so forget about any real view and very little natural light. Again, friendly staff and clean and ok for one night - but we can all do much better at this price point , even in Manhattan.

This is the absolute worst hotel in NYC. I'm writing this review on the first night of my stay. The room is hot, even with the heating off, but the windows won't open. The front desk says the temperature is comfortable but who are they to tell me what I should find comfortable? The service is horrible. I would never recommend this place to anybody.

A Disgrace to the Hilton Name

From start to finish, our experience at this hotel was closer to that of getting sheisted by a carnie than of staying at a Hilton DoubleTree. The nickel and diming was incredible: resort fees, fees to check your luggage in, fees to check your luggage out, fees to have breakfast (even when you have free breakfast vouchers), fees to use the water fountain (not really, but I wouldn't put it past them). They give you a card for a free gift at a concierge, which is just a way for them to sell you on more fees; just what you want from a vacation. But the worst part was . . . they don't automatically hand out DoubleTree cookies. I've been a Diamond member for years; after this stay, I'll be checking into Marriott.
