Great Savannah views but terrible noises from the animals in the adjoining unit.

I was a DVC member for 17 years and enjoyed my prior visits to Kidani. I booked an 11 night stay in a Savannah view studio, looking for some quiet time on the balcony watching the animals. While I loved the location of my room, I was placed in a lock off unit, which means there is an adjoining door to the one bedroom unit next to me. What I didn’t count on was that my neighbors had a teenage boy who spewed profanity at the top of his lungs at all hours of the day and night. When I called the front desk for help, nothing was done. I was told that quiet hours start at 11. While I understand unavoidable noise, this kid and his parents were beyond the pale. I called the front desk twice the first night and once the second night. Nothing was ever done. When those neighbors left, they were replaced with a couple who had an infant and a toddler. I believe they put the infant’s crib directly in front of the lock off door then either left their room or retreated into their bedroom, leaving the infant to scream from 7:30 pm until midnight. No one ever responded to me knocking on the door. When I called the front desk, nothing was ever done even though they felt a safety check for the child was in order. Two nights before my departure, I was told I could move to another room but since it was 10:30 at night, I had been there nine days and I have a bad leg, I thought this was unacceptable. Lesson learned is to never stay at a Kidani, particularly in a lock off unit. I was exhausted from my drive down there and was exhausted when I left. I often got contradictory information from the front desk. I asked where the laundry was and I was told it was by the gym at the pool. It was not. Ordinarily, misdirection is not a big issue but I have a bad leg and the extra steps were painful. Also, I called and asked if I could have a package delivered to the room via UPS. I was told yes for a $6.00 fee. When I was alerted the package arrived, I called and asked if I could come get the package. I was told I had to wait in the room for it. Later, when it didn’t arrive, I was told they didn’t have staff to deliver, so I ended up getting it myself, which I offered to do in the first place. On the positive side, the place was immaculate. Kudos to the housekeeping team throughout my stay and who returned an eye medication I accidentally left behind. Also the lifeguards made sure we all understood the sanitizing routine for the chairs at the pool and reminded guests to keep their masks on when walking at the pool. The lifeguards and attendants and the pool were cheerful and gracious to their guests, even when enforcing mask and spacing rules to guests and most guests were compliant. The pool and hot tubs were immaculate and at times I had the pool to myself. The ladies at the Kidani pool bar were excellent mixologists, great conversationalists and overall nice people. Food service is limited here. My trip was last minute so I made reservations on the fly and never got into Sana’a. I was grateful to have my car and often drove to the Polynesian, Grand Floridian and Beach Club to frequent the restaurants there. Kudos to Mr. Quan at the Grand Floridian Café who was so kind to me and offered excellent service. I am a bit technologically challenged but I found their app system worked pretty well. I also went to Costco in Orlando to stock up on sodas and supplies. The gift shop is also very tiny with limited offerings far below the other resorts. The large gift shop at the AK Lodge was closed when I was there. Parking was a breeze and I appreciated the hand sanitizer stations near the elevators. The room had a microwave and Small refrigerator With freezer section, which was invaluable.

Our second time here, first was a second floor studio and this time was a 5th floor studio. We much preferred the lower floor and saw many more animals a year ago than this trip but I know they come and go as they please so it’s not a deal breaker. Great size room with nice small fridge and microwave that is such a great Thing to have. Bathroom is big and multiple people can get ready at once. We rent DVC points and works great. Hotel itself is very clean and the elevators work plenty fast ALWAYS. We have stayed at Boardwalk and their elevators are horrible and slow. Friendly staff and makes us feel welcome. Wish there was a quick service food option at Kidani but door dash and Uber eats were our friend. I’d put it at 4.5 stars and a great option for the fancier side of Disney hotels.

Ms Beth is AWFUL!!! Management here kicked us out due to a billing error and left us with no where to be and all of our stuff locked in the room. The error was worked out TWICE before the butthurt employee (Ms Beth) claimed we “never had a reservation” and completely KICKED US OUT! Cute giraffes and zebras and other animals so they would get five stars(:

    Paying for the view

Our family scored a great deal on a 2 bedroom suite. While the room in my opinion was a bit average, you’re obviously paying for the views which cannot be beat. The kitchen utensils and cookware could use a bit of an upgrade but overall the kitchen met our needs for some in room dinners. Having the third full bathroom was a game changer and having the additional chair and couch pull outs were wonderful. The king room had an amazing bathroom with large shower and jetted tub. We had a 5th floor room directly across from the lobby across the savannah. We requested close to the giraffe but I think we could have been closer if we were closer to the lobby. The Jambo house pool is much larger than the Kidani pool and it is open. For adults, I’d recommend the Jambo location. Very kid friendly at the other. The large connected balcony was a great place for us all to gather and hang out. The price tag associated with the room is Disney price inflated, but it’s worth it due to the views outside your window. It is worth the money. Lastly, Breakfast was a great price and very good.

    Favorite balcony at Disney

Booked a 3-night, one bedroom Savanna view for our anniversary. We were in the Zazu section on the 4th floor. We usually request to be closer to the lobby, but we did not feel this section of the hotel was a bad walk to the bus stop or lobby. Also, it was very quiet. We love having the extra bathroom. And one of our favorite things to do is sit on the balcony to watch all the animals on the savanna. I think this was our 7th time staying here and it never gets old with seeing the animals. Our room was clean and we did not have any issues. We ordered food from my Disney experience app two of the nights from Sanna to go. Both nights were excellent. We did not order any wine from the app’s menu because they were not actually a good selection, so we went to the bar at Sanaa and ordered a bottle of wine from their menu to take up to the room. Their wine menu is extensive and they have a variety of wines to choose from. The bar at Sanaa is open for drinks to takeaway as well. We like the parking garage, which makes it an easy access for bringing luggage to the room. We took the bus to AK on the first day (Thursday). We were the only ones on the bus to the park (around 1 pm). This was November 19. Park was not busy, but it was a lot busier then our prior trip back in August. We had a late dining reservation at Tiffins and by the time we left the park it was 30 minutes after the park closed. When we got to our bus stop there was a long line (yes social distancing was some of the cause). Our bus stop was next to the Pop Century bus stop, and their line was as long as our line. We knew it might be crazy. This is where it got a bit crazy. 7 buses came in to pick up Pop Century while we were still waiting and not one came for us yet. It was over 50 minutes before we even get on the bus. While we were waiting we looked at all the other resort bus stops and there were no guests yet the busses just sitting there. We even had a few buses that were supposed to be for AKL, but the transportation department decided to give them all to pop century. After we finally got a bus, the people in our line decided not to follow the social distance markers anymore and there was no social distancing in the line after that. Which made us feel very uncomfortable enough that we drove to AK the next day instead of using the bus. We had a power outage one night during our stay. They left flashlights with the rooms. I think the power was only out for one hour that night (2 am). We did some pin trading at the DVC community hall. All of the cast members we encountered were nice and super helpful. We only had a few issues with the resort. Nothing the cast members could do about it because it happened on our walk to the lobby. There was a family of four walking in front of us (we stayed back) and the father did not have his mask on (the rest of the family had their masks on) and the son yelled at his father for not wearing his mask when they noticed we were behind them. We enjoyed our trip the week before Thanksgiving.
