    Bare Bones at the Moment

The service offered by this hotel at the moment is really minimal. To be fair though, they called us and warned about the renovations and cutbacks, so we knew what we were in for, more or less, and the price was right between that and COVID. Checkin and service in general was fairly cold and indifferent. The renovated room was generally fine- always nice to have a fresly updated room- with one glaring exception. The bedroom in the two room suite was almost completly in the dark. It was an astonishing and ridiculous setup. There were two very dim 5-10 watt max reading lamps on the sides of the bed and no overhead light or floor lamp whatsoever. You literally need a flashlight in the bedroom once the sun goes down. Looks like a major boo-boo in the renovations. Totally not workable unless you want to spend your whole stay in the dark. The second major annoyance was the breakfast. It was absolutely horrible. Yes I know COVID and all but, after staying at over a dozen hotels since the virus started I know there are ways to do a decent breakfast with just a little effort, even with grab and go. Instead, they are providing the following: one ice cold plain bagel (that cannot be toasted since you have no toaster in your room so no idea how anyone could eat that-- microwaved??), one tiny pack of plain cream cheese (enough for half your ice cold bagel, assuming you could find any way to heat and eat it), two hard bolied eggs, one tiny cup of reconstituted orange juice that my son recognized from his school lunch, one apple (the only thing we actually were able to eat) and one tiny cup of the cheapest brand yogurt. I get there is no restaurant due to renovations but how hard would it be to provide some quality takeaway items? Some nice pastries, some cheese or meats, some wraps or microwaveable breakfast items, some real juice, some higher end yogurt or flavored instant oatmeal or granola. I can think of a dozen items that could easily be provided and would be way better than the prison rations they are currently calling breakfast. If they don't change it, my advice is to skip it because it will just end up in the garbage and you will be pissed off you ate it, unless you are too broke to get a real breakfast. Also, they are provding no housekeeping unless you request it. On the plus side (and the reason in spite of these big drawbacks I gave four stars), the location in Old Town La Quinta is great and the view (if you get the right room) of surrounding mountains can be spectacular. Patios are nice for hanging out but could use a larger table and more chairs. Also beds are comfy and they have nice fluffy towels. Not a luxury and seamless experience but overall, we enjoyed this hotel in spite of the big shortcomings at the moment.

If You Want Air Conditioning DON’T Stay Here

This was one of the worst sleeping experiences I’ve had in a very long time. When I arrived to my room, I noticed my air conditioner kicked on once I stood in front of the thermostat. This told me that the thermostat is being run with a motion sensor. So, I called the front desk and asked if they could have maintenance come up and override the motion sensor so I wouldn’t lose a/c in the night. Maintenance came to the room and assured me that after 8 PM the motion sensors were no longer operational. He stated this was a feature that was only used during the day while you’re away from your room. At midnight, I turn the thermostat to 68° and went to bed. I woke up at 2:30 AM sweating because the air conditioner had shut itself off and was now sitting at 78°. Once I went to the thermostat, it automatically kicked back on. It would only run for six minutes before it would shut itself off once again. I called the front desk who stated maintenance was no longer available and move me to a new room. Once again, I set the thermostat at 68° and went to sleep. I woke up at 4:30 sweating again with the air conditioner no longer running and the thermostat sitting at 78°. At this point I moved to the couch, and every six minutes when the AC would shut off I would waive my arm in the air so it would kick back on. Finally, at 6 AM I got up. I talk to the front desk manager, Maria, who told me the thermostat does not kick itself off. It actually resets itself to 80° when it senses no movement. When I stated that 80° was too hot to sleep in, she assured me it was plenty cool enough for her. She refunded my stay, and acted like I should just be happy with that and move on. I would rather have payed double to have a good nights sleep. If you enjoy air-conditioning for a comfortable nights sleep, find somewhere else to stay.

Too Filthy For Me - Low Class

When I walked in my room I was hit in the face with meldew ordor. The carpet had large dirt spots/spills on it and the ceiling had a leak stain on it. The bathroom floor appeared to be in need of a good mopping as well as the dirty elevator. The patio was filthy, the table had big black soot crumbs all over it and the floor, also spider webs. The pool wasn't clear clean water, it was cloudy & dirty with lots of bugs in it and had big cock roaches crawling around. The free breakfast was tasteless and nasty! That's probably why it was free! This was a nightmare for me. The Wii-fii wasn't safe, kept warning that someone can steal your information if you use it. My only positive note was the bed was comfortable but I was afraid of getting bit by a bed bug! Also, they didn't inform me that they were renovating!

Stayed at this location during COVID for a relaxing get away. The balcony was full of spider webs. Dead roaches near the pool. Right before check out the water was shut off without warning. My husband had to leave for an appointment w/out a shower. I asked for compensation and there was no discussion Just nope I’m sorry and we can give you a late check out. The location is beautiful and walking distance to great places to eat but will choose another location for sure unless Hilton resolves this issue.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel many times and we have always been impressed with the level of service and professionalism here. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are large and clean, the pool is large with two hot tubs, nice loungers and an abundance of large towels, the breakfast is huge and delicious with made-to-order omelettes and fresh fruits, and lovely receptions in the evening with snacks and free drinks. So that’s what brings us back. This year we were in the San Diego area when the Covid virus was getting serious and spreading quite quickly and we decided to head to the Palm Springs area for a week. When we arrived at the Embassy Suites LaQuinta, there were very few guests due to the recently cancelled tennis tournament. But the kindness the hotel staff showed us and the service they provided was amazing. Breakfast could not be served as usual due to new state/local restrictions to slow the spread of the virus so instead each guest would step up to the serving window and order what they wanted for breakfast! The staff had few guests to serve but smiled and talked to us and treated us kindly. During the evening reception they did the same. I asked for salt and pepper and was told that the staff would bring them to me as they were not providing them on tables so they could be sanitized after each use. One person in particular, Jazmine, could not have been more helpful to us. She was excellent. The reception staff was the same. Because of my husband’s health condition, we were not able to fly home as we had planned. Instead we had to drive our rental car home. The morning we left, the staff allowed us to take an extra piece of fruit and some yogurt for the trip and gave us ice for our cooler. This was a scary time for us and this hotel went above and beyond to help us feel safe and well taken care of. We will definitely be back!! Thanks!!
