Well, the world has changed and so has the resort industry. In the interest of keeping everyone safe, the hotel has taken and continues to take many precautions. These include temperature checks at check in and at every restaurant. The hotel was only at 15% occupancy when we visited ~ 100 guests. The Melia has always maintained a standard that they continue to uphold. As Club Melia (timeshare) owners, we have never regretted our (20+ years of) membership and that is true to this date. Upon check in, we were delighted to learn that “Georgie” would be our host. We have worked with Georgie while at Paradisus Cancun. He is an absolute delight and did not disappoint. We were asked to meet with the Club about “updates” but declined. These updates are merely sales pitches. We have more than enough options with our current membership. When I made the reservation for this trip, I was assured we would be in the Adults Only section on the (old) La Perla side of the resort. Unfortunately, that side was closed and our rooms were in the (former) La Esmeralda side. Yes, it was a disappointment that could have been managed better by notifying us in advance (my husband does not do well with “surprises”). On the upside, I believe our rooms were upgraded from what I booked. The Reserve adults-only pool was open with pool bar service as was the adults-only La Palapa restaurant. There were plenty of beach seats. At the beach, there was a “Reserve” area with better seat options (cushions, umbrellas) and lots of attention from the staff. The wild animals are alive and well on the property, The coatis are very brave and won't hesitate to grab your food or drink if left unintended. There is a raccoon that likes to beg, in the evening, at the open air restaurant. Iguanas were present as well as the feral cats. Kind of fun. Only two specialty restaurants were open each evening. I believe we were accidentally booked to Fuego two nights in a row. So, the restaurant manager surprised us with a special menu. It was delicious but way too much food! The menus were available by scanning a QR code with your phone. Not the best way to read a menu; but we managed. Also, even with descriptions on the menu, we never really knew what we were ordering. Portions were healthy and, if you didn’t like what you ordered or were still hungry, you could always order more food. About the phones. I do not like to carry my phone when I am on vacation. I do not use WhatsApp (download it before you go!) and would have lovee to know what the daily activities were. But the activities list was not published and I had no idea how/where to find it. The gym was closed. Period. But we did enjoy a 50 minute massage at the YHI spa. The massage was excellent! We heard about the Water Park from one of the employees but had no idea where it was. On our way out of the complex (enroute to the airport), we saw the Water Park. That is all I know about it! Now, to the employees that made our stay so enjoyable: GEORGIE for the win! Special shout outs to AlBiel, Daniel, Elias, Alfredo and Renaud. These men were all very friendly and “our wish was their command” whether at La Palapa, the Reserve adults-only pool, the beach, etc. Thank you to the entire staff, from the bellmen to the housekeepers and up to the manager. Thank you to the Melia for providing an experience we can count on and trust. This was definitely a “different” trip; maybe a bit more low key than usual. We look forward to seeing you again (hopefully soon). (P.S. Please tip the staff. If you can afford to travel, you can afford to give a few buck away!)

I had the privilege to visit Paradisus with my wife and 2 little girls, traveling during a pandemic can seem daunting, but thanks to resorts such as Paradisus, it is possible. The cleaning protocols, safety measures, and social distancing options in place are fantastic. Rocio, Jorge, Victor thank you for your special attention????

I just want to say that due to work I get to visit many hotels in the area. Since COVID changed our lifestyle, staying in hotels is not the same, however this place does it AMAZING. The security protocols for COVID are taken care of in a professional way that made me feel very safe. So they do their part, it’s up to the guests to do the other half. I totally recommend it. Food is amazing, service and drink quality is great and the mixology level is impressive for an all inclusive. If I have to say a but, it would be that if you dare to stay 2 minutes in the reserve area someone will go to you to remind you that you don’t belong there... its ok I get I didn’t pay for it but if im just checking out the place and not using the facilities you shouldn’t rush in to take us out.

    Don't hesitate to go!

Just got back from a 5 night trip to Paradisus Playa Del Carmen and what a pleasure it was! Arriving in Mexico with such a sense of welcome.... The Mexican people are just so thankful for you to be visiting and spending money in their country. We used USA transfers and they were professionals from start to finish and very affordable! The Paradisus was just as welcoming and all the employees went out of their way to make your stay enjoyable, from our concierge Naftalie to Alfredo at the pool bar and everyone in between! The resort itself was spotless and sanitized at all cost. To tell you the truth, I was a little hesitant to travel during these crazy covid times but once we arrived at the resort our minds we were put at ease with all the precautions they take to keep the resort clean and sanitized. Our temperature was taken before entering restaurants. We stayed in a Reserve One Bedroom Swim Up and boy was that a treat!!! The room was huge with a separate area for dining room, living room and bedroom, huge bathroom a roman tub not to mention the jacuzzi tub on the back porch leading to the swim out. We were spoiled for the full five days with great food, drinks flowing and complete relaxation. If you are thinking about going to Mexico, don't hesitate to stay at the Paradisus and try go before the crowds comes back!! That was a bonus :)

Amazing Getaway - Highly Recommend for a safe and affordable family vacation.

My family and I (two adults and 2 children ages 8 and 11) booked a last minute trip to Playa del Carmen in late august through Costco travel. We stayed at the Paradisus by Melia in Playa del Carmen. We were originally concerned with traveling during Covid but, the more we read our level of confidence increased. So we made a spur of the moment choice and booked an end of summer trip with Costco and traveled. This trip wound up being beyond perfect. With everything happening in the states it was an ideal time to get away to such a bountiful location and an amazing resort. Our stay at the Paradisus was very safe, comfortable, and exciting. The resort, transpiration services, and offsite excursions all take health and hygiene precautions to assure traveler safety. Every place you go you are offered hand sanitizer, have your temperature taken and or are required to have you shoes sterilized. All luggages is also wiped down prior to entering any establishment or transportation service to prevent brining any germs into the cleaned environment. They encourage the use of masks in common areas but, you do not need them while dining and pool, beach side or if you can social distance. The resorts staff is overly accommodating and extremely helpful. Everybody was very pleasant and helpful. The overwhelming majority of staff was at lest bi-lingual if not fluent in multiple languages beyond Spanish and English. Upon arrival and learning the resort we met a staff member (guest Services) named Marta. She right away booked us different restaurants for every night of our stay. All restaurants were not open at the time of our stay but, they rotated different ones every night. We ate at a different venue every night. The food from American, Italian, Japanese, Mediterranean, and Mexican was all amazing. The breakfasts and lunches were changed from a buffet format to an order at the table and market format. All menus are electric on your cell phone from a QR code scan, as to help reduce touching and germs. Marta checked on my family and I all during our trip. She made sure we were aware of events and functions happening at the resort during our stay. Her experience and guidance assured we had an amazing time. She was beyond a great host. She even helped us secure multiple additional discounts when booking our off site excursions. Her recommendations and help set this trip and stay over the top. At the time of our stay in late August the resorts are only at about 30% capacity, so you don’t feel alone but, there isn’t a wait for anything. If you go to the Playa del Carmen / Cancun area I highly recommend spending the day at Xcaret. It was an amazing experience. Be sure to stay till the evening and see the show. They do a fantastic job. I also recommend going on an offsite snorkeling trip with alltournative, snorkel Native Park. The reef has amazing sites to see and the establishment’s staff is great. They went above and beyond to assure that my 8 year old son and 11 year old daughter saw and experienced the best time possible. My family and I were very sorry to see the week end and return to the states. If you’re looking to get away Playa del Carmen and this resort are a perfect choice. I have continually recommended this trip to everybody I have spoken with. It is by far more dangerous walking into a grocery store or Wal-Mart in the states then traveling to Playa del Carmen and staying at the Paradisus.
