beach was nice enough breakers allow use of it well - neve problem getting a lounger -food was average for dominican -service was good no complaints -hard to get into a la cartes -advised upon arrival only 2 options and both were at 9pm -with some serious discussion we were booked everyday at 6:30 found the restaurants to be half empty -rooms were average only and we had upgraded to the suites. view was amazing could hear ocean hit the shore -entertainment was not great but at least it ended at 11 so we could then open door and sleep to ocean - no party vibe -which i loved -did not see one drunk person.- very mature and respectable crowd mostly german canadian . it was very quiet after 11-massage was not bad spa area allowed to use whenever we wanted which was nice place for me to do my yoga however jacuzzi was a disappointment-it was cool and only 2 jets worked and they were very lacking in pressure so didn't bother - a great place to go and read relax totally unwind not have to deal with large amounts of people and drunk rowdie party kinds-views from restaurants amazing overall pretty clean staff very friendly and helpful service good -never had to line up for anything -towels did run out a few times unfortunately but i think some people took two each - music around the beach was nice mix of relaxing and later a little more upbeat not all spanish music volume was good -sports activities none excersize classses were ok -spin claases in bikes in pool was different and good -

Just finished a one week stay at this lovely resort. When we arrived we encountered several significant issues. However the way that management promptly dealt with these issues is a testament to the high standards that all their staff display. They dealt with all our concerns in a low stress and professional manner so that we truly could enjoy the balance of our stay, and we really did! The staff at Bahia Principe Luxury Samana are terrific! They are professional, courteous, gracious, friendly and are a major asset to this hotel. The setting is beautiful and the property is immaculate. Be sure to get a sea view room with a balcony. Worth the little extra. The food is fresh and plentiful. The entertainment is great and their entertainment staff are really fun and obviously enjoy what they do. A special mention to Jonny, one of the restaurant managers, a terrific hard working manager who sets the standard for his staff. Jennifer, the front desk manager, a pleasure to deal with and Kenny, Katy, Ramon, Samuel, Fernando, Wiliam and the bartender at the lobby bar - Roberto, were all great. Also, the terrific waiter on the beach (don’t recall his name). Also David and Alfredo at the front desk, patient, friendly, professional. One criticism is that they really need to address their a la carte dining system which shows fully booked upon arrival for us and all guests we spoke to but they do eventually get everyone in that wants a la carte, as far as I’m aware after protesting, so this needs working on. I read several reviews about stairs being an problem. In my opinion these reviews completely exaggerate the stairs issue. The stairs should not be an issue unless you have mobility issues. This property is clean, beautifully and efficiently designed and the perfect size for anyone who is not into the standard massive “all inclusive” properties. The staff try hard. Some nice touches: Bbq on the beach, paella poolside, Thursday night seafood buffet, great coffee, lots of live music. I recommend this property.

This is a very nice, lean, quiet all-inclusive. Looks just like the pictures, unlike many others. Staff all friendly and helpful. As others have noted, lots of stairs so if that is an issue book elsewhere. We found no issue with this. Thought the food was very good. Only problem I have with this resort is they do not make it clear that the Specialty Restaurants only have one open each night. If there for a short stay may have trouble getting what you want. Nice, not spectacular, beach, pool and sunbathing areas. Where always able to find chairs at any time of day. Stayed in the F building, 4th floor. Views spectacular. It appears that all rooms have views, just better on the higher floors. The standard rooms are very spacious. Resort is well outside of the town. $20 cab ride and not much near by. We would definitely recommend this place.

This little gem of a resort is situated about 1hr from the Samana airport. The resort has beautiful landscaping, with great looking buildings. The rooms are spacious and clean, our room even a jacuzzi tub. The resort is situated on a cliff which provides spectacular views of the ocean. However being on a cliff there are lots of stairs, to the restaurants, pool and beach. I counted 75 steps from the lobby to the beach and 40 steps from the beach to the closest washroom. This could be an issue for Seniors. I have to say the food is above average. The buffet is large for a small resort, good selection a fresh food. The A-la-carte restaurants are also very good, if you can get a reservation. There are 3 A-la-carte restaurants, however they only open 1 per night. Don’t expect to get more then 2 or 3 reservations per week. They have a Gala night once a week that has great food, even lobster. Overall this is a great little resort, great for rest and relaxation, definitely not a party place. Mostly an older crowd when we where there.
