Too noisy. In early hours

DerrenBrett (Orpington, United Kingdom) on Apr 19, 2024

The hotel itself is in a good position, the facilities and rooms are very well furnished comfortable. We had a generally good stay here. The only issue we had is the hotel isn't very well noise proofed from the outside road traffic. We were woken every morning at 3.30am by the rubbish collection lorries. This then went on and off until around 5.30- 6am. When mentioned to the hotel desk, their answer was that they couldn't regulate the rubbish collection times. I would have thought that when building a purpose built hotel in a busy area noise reduction in the rooms would be a priority. Good place to stay if you don't insist on a good night's sleep.

Excellent hotel, lovely rooms and great buffet breakfast. Rooms very clean and good facilities. Staff all very courteous. Bar service and choice also good. Great location for Pier 39 and fisherman’s wharf facilities.

Great hotel within walking distance of lots to do!

Lisa_GBP (London, Canada) on Apr 16, 2024

We stayed here for two nights with our 6 year old daughter in April 2024. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed. The wifi was quick and reliable (which was helpful because I did have a bit of work to do), and the pool is a good size. Our daughter braved the pool in April, and she said it was fine (they keep it at 80 degrees). The breakfast buffet was very resort-like (it's a Riu, so that makes sense). There was pretty much everything you'd want - eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, coffee, juice, etc. The food was constantly coming out of the kitchen, so it was also hot and fresh. Parking is expensive ($60/day, but you have in-out privileges, however, you can find other parking around the area for cheaper - around $35/24 hours, but you don't have in-out privileges). It is an underground parking garage, so it was a little more private. This hotel is also within walking distance of so many things - restaurants, Pier 39, and the Alcatraz Landing docks. We have a 6 year old as I mentioned, so I feel like we can confidently say that things really are within walking distance. Overall, a great hotel for a stay in San Francisco. We would return if coming back to the area.

End of a multi destination vacation. Great experience.

JPBacon on Apr 16, 2024

As the final leg of a multi destination vacation we found ourselves in the Riu Plaza Fisherman's Wharf and we were not disappointed. The hotel had a very professional feel but with a personal feel too, and there are many large hotels which fail to do this. On check in we were given a room which although was adequate the position did not meet our requirements. We were offered an upgraded room with no fuss. The room was spacious, immaculately clean with a bed which was difficult to get out of in the morning....So Comfortable! Location perfect. Breakfast was delicious and served over a period of 3 hours so was constantly being replenished. Staff very friendly and helpful. A great way to end our holiday!!

Perfect place to stay when you don’t have a car.

Innyperson (Stafford, United Kingdom) on Apr 07, 2024

Great place to stay, cannot fault it. Very close to Fisherman’s Wharf and within easy waking distance of the cable cars, boats to Alcatraz, Pier 33, Pier 39, etc. Excellent breakfast! Something for everyone with a great range of cereals, yoghurts, juices, fresh fruit, cheese, ham, eggs, sausages, bagels, potatoes and a range of lovely breads, plus much more. Friendly staff and very easy for any pick ups by taxi or Uber as there is a central passage for cars to pass through. The place is kept clean constantly. We did not hire a car until we left San Francisco and we didn’t need one when we stayed here.
