My husband and I have just returned from our first trip to St Lucia and Bel Jou. We have been so impressed with the hotel, food, location and the wonderful staff, everyone made us feel so welcome and looked after, despite what has been a very difficult time for the country. When BA looked liked they had shirked their responsibility to get us back to the airport, the staff were the first to tell us not to worry they wouldn't leave us stranded - how nice is that!! There is plenty to keep you occupied, from great pilates sessions to the complimentary shuttle bus. We honestly couldn't fault anything about this hotel and its staff. We would dearly love to come back again.

We have just returned from our third visit to this hotel and it did not disappoint. Its the staff which make this hotel so special, led by manager Dean, nothing is too much trouble for them., and all done with a smile. The food is excellent and the fine dining in the Al a carte is an absolute must. The hotel closed last year for a short time for some refurbishment and we were concerned that it might have changed the ambience, thankfully it hasn't. The only thing that has changed are the trips with Jaffray, which were brilliant, his knowledge of the island is 'second to none'. Trips are now done by a tour company, so none of the friendly, small trips which used to take place with Jaffray, we were disappointed!! The gardens and grounds are kept immaculate and tended with pride, as are all the rooms. Trips to the beautiful, quiet beach, 1 0 minutes away are provided by the hotel mini bus, its well worth a visit. We will return and would not hesitate to return to this gem of a hotel and its wonderful staff.

    The perfect honeymoon in paradise

We found this incredible gem of a hotel through JetBlue vacations as they were offering a discount at the time; we booked based on the previous reviews that turned out to be pretty spot on. The hotel is small for a "resort" - two pools and about 75 rooms but that only adds to why it's a fantastic place to vacation. It's small enough to be completely private but also small enough for form friendships with other guests and the staff. The food and drinks are AMAZING. The buffet was excellent for 3 meals each day, and there is a self serve bar at the pool with rum, wine, and Piton on draft. Be sure to check out the coffee shop and the "fine dining" restaurant early on in your stay - we waited til nearly the end and regretted not having known about them sooner (delicious and included in the all inclusive bit). In fact the only additional charges we had while there were for a ride to Pigeon Island (about 30 minutes from the hotel) and for a manicure. As for the spa, it was very under-utilized as I did not meet a single other guest who had used the facility. I had a 30 minute massage (that my husband won at the manager's cocktail party) and a manicure with Juliana. The massage was lovely. The manicure itself was just okay but chatting with Juliana was lovely. Jaffrey was in charge of activities - aqua aerobics was phenomenal. There were other daily things like lawn bowling, bocce ball and croquet. There was live music almost every night in the roof-top lounge that was excellent however it started at 9pm and by 10pm most people left. We were among the youngest of couples there (32 and 41 years old) but we were not looking for a wild and crazy honeymoon so this hotel fit all of our needs. As a note, it's ~90 minutes from UVF airport, and is an $85 USD taxi ride. The resort offers a free taxi to the local beach (Vigie Beach) that has a couple places to eat, drink and look around, and also a paid taxi to Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island. We did a couple excursions while we were there, we definitely recommend the buggy tour to Soufriere. Lastly, but certainly not least, all of the staff were incredible. They were all very engaging and helpful, genuinely interested in your stay and how they could help. We definitely recommend this place and hope to go back.

Bel Jou Hotel and its staff, particularly Dean, the manager, are wonderful. The hotel is small enough to be personal but large enough to have space to wander around, try out the different dining areas and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Being on a hill, the hotel has lovely views and a sweet little kitchen garden which gives it a relaxing peaceful feel. The food in the restaurants is lovely, varied and plentiful. Drinks are obviously also plentiful too! It would be great though if there was more Caribbean food on offer. We had a room on the first floor of the main block which was perfectly adequate with a decent bathroom, plenty of hangers and comfy beds. The lighting in the rooms though does need to be improved. Bring plenty of mozzie spray as we did get bitten a lot in the evenings and take advantage of the shuttle buses to the various locations, they're well worth it!

The Bel Jou Hotel - what a wonderful find. We loved ever aspect of this small hotel, but right at the top fo our list is the staff - outstanding. Dean and his team were simply wonderful - we were so impressed that we listed 24 individual members of staff by name (yes, really!) on our comment card at the end of our stay. They included reception staff, members of the restaurant team, housekeeping, entertainment, bar staff, garden maintenance, laundry porters... One of the friendliest places we have every had the privilege to stay. On top of that, we had a beautiful room, spotlessly clean and perfectly positioned to enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The buffet dinners were of excellent quality, and we had the option to enjoy the 'fine dining' restaurant too. Although not situated on the beach, they have a very friendly shuttle service which will take you to the beach in a few minutes at no extra charge. But there was always space around one of the two pools with ample shade/sun depending on your preference! We have found our own piece of paradise in paradise, and can't wait to return. Here's to 2021!
