Well worthy of 5 stars. Just returned from a relaxing week at the hotel. The room, ambience and service could not be faulted. I was particularly impressed with the booking in procedure on arrival after a long journey. A quick introduction with the keys to the room in an envelope, shown to the room with the bags already waiting. I would recommend a high floor -we were on the third floor which was very quiet rather than a room overlooking the pool or beach since it is very private. Especial mention for Jordan [the fitness instructor] who was very friendly. Enjoyed my morning jog with him even though he was fitted with sand bags to slow him down! The two restaurants Trystin and Malabar were exceptional. We made a second booking at the Trystin it was so good.

VIP treatment* in Caribbean paradise (*especially if you are paleo/AIP!)

We are not usually people who would go all inclusive, but this place changed our minds! We loved our time at Rendezvous and would highly recommend it. I won’t dwell on all the positives though as I’m sure other reviews cover these, whereas I have a more specific experience to comment on. For medical reasons I follow a broadly paleo/ autoimmune protocol diet, which is fairly restrictive. Generally it makes eating out anywhere extremely difficult and not much fun. But I was treated so well at Rendezvous. I gave the head chef, Peter, my long list of requirements, and he really understood it. Other members of staff (Dawn and Veronica at the Terrace, Eli at Malabar) were extremely helpful too. They often made me special meals to ensure compliance, and would keep special food for me aside, in case I dined at the Terrace restaurant (in the spirit of a fully rounded review, I’d say the understand and helpfulness the one time we ate at Trysting restaurant was not as good). But my absolute heartfelt thanks must go to Shalil at Malabar. What an exceptionally talented chef. Each night I ate there he created a special menu just for me, and it was like eating in a Michelin starred restaurant with a menu designed especially for my requirements. One night he managed to bake a delicious cake for me (good cake that actually tastes of cake being something I haven’t been able to eat for some time) and it actually made me cry I was so touched and it tasted so amazing. I cannot thank him enough, for some of the best meals of my life, but also for treating my requirements like an exciting challenge rather than a huge inconvenience. So if you are following AIP or paleo and are wondering if there is a resort in the Caribbean where you won’t starve, go to Rendezvous and feast! Equally, if you have other dietary requirements eg gluten free or lactose free, most buffet items are clearly labelled, and if you’re unsure you can always ask, and staff do understand cross contamination issues etc. One final and unrelated point to make in case others considering booking have the same thoughts I had: before we went I was a little worried about noise and air pollution from the little airport that is literally next door, but once we were there it really didn’t bother us. It’s noisy for about 30 seconds while the plane is flying directly above, but this is just several times a day, not several times an hour. There are so many reasons to love Rendezvous, and other than a couple of niggles, the only thing that would improve Rendezvous in my view would be if it were near Soufriere rather than Castries! Castries is okay for one visit to the market, but there’s not much else going for it, whereas we found Soufriere to have a lot more charm and it has more of the things you’d want to be doing on the island nearby.

After spending our honeymoon here we decided to return for our 5th anniversary and my 50th. Of course if you’ve been somewhere once you always compare when you return, Rendezvous didn’t let us down. The Malabar beach restaurant is a new addition and a big plus , we loved lunch on the beach and a couple of evening dinners there. The booking system for evenings does make it difficult to get a preferred time but we have since discovered an online booking system which we’d use in advance when going again. Pretty much everything else has been said about the staff , many we recalled from our previous visit . Jacinta who greeted us on arrival remembering us like long lost friends, Frances too who served us for our romantic dinner on honeymoon and wanted to do the same again for our anniversary. The bar staff are also great too, Tash ..’nice’ and Gilford who always went the extra mile in the terrace bar. Veronica the ‘egg lady’ who’s a permanent fixture it seems even managed to rescue about a dozen of us when the automatic doors failed in the buffet at breakfast one morning! We have taken a shine to the Verandah Suites with those lovely large balconies and steamer chairs , though the upstairs ones do give more privacy. It must have made a good impression as we’ve booked to return in December.

As many other reviewers have said, the Rendezvous is excellent, the service, the effort and the thoughtfulness of the staff is second to none. They really made our stay for a week from New Year’s Eve wonderful. Champagne awaited us in our room for up our 30th Wedding anniversary. We had a verandah room which was impressive, wonderfully fitted out with a walk in shower and free standing enormous bath and REN toiletries as well.?? we used all the restaurants but loved the Malabar, we had lunch there every day and a couple of dinners as well. The 2 other restaurants were great as well. The water sports guys were very friendly and we had a sailing lesson and then took a hobby cat out! Lots of varied live music bands most evenings which was great. Loved the atmosphere in the piano bar and the champagne tasting every evening before dinner. Aquafit every day in the garden pool, what a great location and a fun team of fitness staff. The garden pool is a beautiful location with impressive double sun beds and butler service for drinks, wonderful. The spa staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the Garden Walk with Joe, there are some amazing flowers! We loved our stay and would go back to Rendezvous resort if we return to the beautiful island of St Lucia. Finally I must just mention New Year’s Eve. The staff had transformed the terrace dining area and it looked amazing, the dinner, the staff and the entertainment were very impressive, we had a ball and managed to stay up until 05.00am UK time. It was such a great night! And the spectacular fireworks were wonderful. Not forgetting the St Lucia Police Band who were brilliant. Couldn’t have asked for more.

This was our first time visiting St Lucia and were recommended the Rendezvous resort by a friend. St Lucia is beautiful, the drive from the airport to the resort took over an hour and a half but the scenery was gorgeous. The rendezvous resort is on the edge of Castries. Before our arrival I was slightly concerned about the airport and cemetery being so close but neither had an impact on our stay. The resort itself is beautiful and has everything to hand to make the prefect relaxing holiday. Our room overlooked the beach and sea beyond and was immaculate and comfortable. The food in the three restaurants was superb, however, make sure you book the beach restaurant as soon as you arrive to ensure a table in the evening as this is extremely popular and the food is outstanding. The facilities at the resort are plentiful and there is lots going on to suit everyone. The staff are all extremely friendly and take the time and trouble to ensure your stay is perfect. It doesn’t get 5/5 because there were a few niggles, however, we would definitely recommend this resort to our family and friends and if we go back to St Lucia would definitely book to stay here again.
