We stayed for one week at the beginning of August... The only things that saves this place is that it is located in beautiful Sint-Maarten. The hotel room itself is clean, new and very spacious. As for the hotel grounds they are way too small for the capacity of the hotel. Not one day was I able to get chaire and umbrella on the beach even though I went at 7 am.. people where paying the chair guy 50us$ to keep chairs for the week. As for the food well... Prepare yourself to wait as there is on buffet for the whole hotel and there is always a lineup for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The quality of food is ok but not alot of choices and they run out of the good stuff really quick. It is the same situation for the bars. There is one poolside and beach side and they are always packed. As for the staff they are really nice but after talking to alot of them i found out they are really underpaid and this is an issue as there is a lack of staff at the hotel.

Should not be an all inclusive resort!

Stayed at Sonesta Maho beach August, 2019, worst all inclusive experience ever!! The food was horrible, the menus were basic and they had the same thing every day, they had one buffet with very minimum choices, food was only served for a few hours every day, no room service, no food by the pool, no one walking around to take an order! No fruits even at the buffet or anywhere else. I would go back to St Maarten but not to this hotel. Staff was very helpful with what they had to work with, which was not a lot. Don't think proper training was given to staff. Everything took forever to come because of the limitations. Would not recommend this hotel all inclusive option.

    Worst Vacay Ever

Sooo, I’ve travelled to a lot of all inclusive resorts but this was the worse by far. Poor hospitality , no choice of food. The first vacay That i Felt no need to tip except one person( Superman ). Bad attitudes from the staff. Long wait for the 3 elevators for a 10 floor building. Incomplete stairwells. Construction being done in the building during the day Like who paints walkways and towel huts during the day. Running out off beach towels so if you get one you better hold on to it. You had to be at breakfast at 6:30 or good luck getting anything but tea. Birds walking on the tables and picking food from plates. Rude waitresses one actually told us she was helping us cause the other girl was playing on her phone in the corner. We usually call our family vacays the Best Vacays Ever 1,2,3 etc. well this was the worst Ever. Never want to experience this madness again. Oh did I mention our room was cleaned once and fridge fill once on a 6 day trip. Not to mention Beatrix had an attitude and acted like she was doing me a favor when I spoke to her about issues. Also make sure your excursion give what the advertise. We were told lunch included for a $159 excursion and had to pay $55 for lunch. Because the people running the day trip said lunch was not included. They did however offer us water. Smh. Best thing the planes.

You get what you pay for

We booked a 7 day trip at the Sonesta through Apple Vacations. The pre-paid transportation was an hour late picking us up from the airport which started the trip off wrong from the beginning. We were traveling with 9 people, including children and seniors, so sitting in the heat for an hour was no fun. They apologized saying they had no pick ups scheduled for that day. There were three other families waiting as well so I am not sure what "list" they were looking at. We arrived at the hotel @ 3:30pm. Two of our rooms were ready and two of them were not. Went back to the desk to inquire about the rooms and one of them was still not ready at 5:30pm! Once everyone was checked into their rooms the trip started getting better. Highlights/Strengths- 1. Anna the Concierge was the best thing about the resort. She was very helpful, scheduled everything I needed and had a great attitude. 2. The bar staff Hakeem and Derron at The Palms restaurant were great. 3. The rooms were nicely equipped except there is not enough drawer space for your clothes. 4. The Palm Restaurant was great for lunch. 5. The beach is small, but nice. 6. The tours set up by the tour company in the lobby were great. Tito was our tour guide and he was fantastic. 7. Maintenance was responsive if there was an issue (I had no hot water for 2 days). Disappointments- Unfortunately this list is longer. 1. Securing a beach chair and umbrella is a ridiculous process. You literally have to get out there between 6:30-7:00AM to secure a seat and umbrella. 2. The biggest disappointment was the food. The breakfast buffet is the SAME FOOD EVERYDAY. There was no variety and the food was terrible. We also ate at a specialty restaurants every night so I don't know what the buffet was like in the evening. 3. The pool is the worst. Why would a resort put the basketball hoop and the volleyball net on the side with the pool bar? You cannot sit at the pool bar without being hit in the head with the ball! It is the dumbest set up I have every seen. Nobody could use the pool bar because of the rowdy games going on. 4. The elevators are the absolute worst. There are 3 elevators for the entire hotel! The wait to get on the elevator was at least 5-8 minutes every time you wanted to use it. 5. Don't sit in the lobby. There was water dripping from the ceiling wherever I sat in the lobby. I assume this was coming from the HVAC unit. 6. Staff attitudes were poor. Outside of the people I mentioned above, and a few others, the staff attitude and service were poor. They acted like they were doing you a favor! I have been to a dozen islands and this was by far some of the worst service I have received at an all inclusive. Everybody had an attitude like they didn't want to be there. A smile goes a long way!!!!! 7. The teen zone was a joke. My daughter and niece said it was theeee worst. I looked in and guess what..they were right. 8. There were no food choices after 10:00. Everything was closed. If you got hungry at night you were out of luck. Overall we had a good time because we made the best of it. This is one of the only all inclusives on St. Marteen so the property is in high demand. If you have stayed at other all inclusives, you know it is also priced lower than other properties. I would stay here again, but I would like to know some things have changed before I do. Tips: Mullet Bay is a short walk away from the resort. It is a much better beach the resort has. We were able to snorkel with the free snorkel equipment we got from the resort's kid's club. They also have a shack that sell food and liquor on the beach. It was great and the ribs were amazing.
